Microsoft has already released its Xbox One S weeks ago. The new Xbox One S comes with a big shinning feature: 4K compatibility. People could not only play games with Xbox One S, but also play 4K Blu-ray on Xbox One S with ease. As the main rival, Sony’s PS4 will also come out soon in September. According to the reports, Sony would release 2 models of new PlayStation on September 7 conference: one high-end 4K model and one slimmer standard model.

The reports pointed out that Sony targets both hard-core fans and casual users of its PlayStation platform. Sony hopes to stay and improve loyalty of its users by creating a community and non-game content. The community would bring a constant stream of revenue via software downloads and subscriptions, while the non-game content includes cloud-based TV streaming service, PlayStation Vue, etc.

According to the reports, Sony would release a premium model of PlayStation 4 packed with superior graphics capabilities, which is greatly referring to 4K. And the report from Damian Thong, an analyst with Macquarie Securities, there would be a standard PS4 which comes with a slimmer case and a more affordable price. The existing PS device is $350. All these have shown a strategy improvement of Sony to grab more users with both high-end model and low-priced model.

It’s easy to learn that the high-end PlayStation 4 will be mainly outstanding in compatibilities, especially to 4K. After all, its major rival, Xbox One S, has already come out with the 4K support. Besides, the high-end 4K model PS4 will have faster processing speed. The new, cheaper PS4 will be thinner and cost less than the current price tag of $350.

All these reports would come out to be proved soon in September. For PS fans, another exciting news is that Sony’s Playstation VR is set to go on sale Oct. 13, bringing the company into the emerging virtual reality gaming sector with competitors like Facebook’s Oculus Rift and HTC’s Vive.
