Posted on May 30th, 2013 Wiki | No comments

Indeed May is a rather busy month for mobile industry. There are so many launch events held like BlackBerry Live, Google I/O and CTIA. Now it seems like that June becomes a little bit jam-packed too, since Samsung announced it will hold a “Premiere 2013” event in London on June 20, which is just less than a week after Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference wraps up. The invitation card shows that this event will focus on Samsung’s Galaxy and ATIV brands.

Although exactly what will be on the agenda this time around is still unclear, there are still rumors revealing what Samsung is going to show at the event. I have collected all recent speculations and rumors, and finally listed 5 devices that Samsung is highly expected to take the wraps off on “Premiere 2013” event, on June 20. Check out.

    1. Samsung Galaxy Tab 3

Recent rumors reveal that Samsung is preparing to unveil the Galaxy Tab 3 soon. The device is expected to sport a 10.1-inch display with 1280 × 800p screen resolution. The new tablet is rumored to be powered by a dual-core Intel Atom chipset, while running on the latest Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean.

Another recent report also revealed the price details of two Galaxy Tab 3 versions – the 8-inch and 10.1-inch variants. Just in line with the report, the Galaxy Tab 3 8.0 will cost $329.99 and the Galaxy Tab 3 10.1 will cost $379.99.

    2. A New ATIV-Branded Smartphone

It is widely known that Samsung has released the ATIV S at IFA 2012 in Berlin, which is Samsung’s first device running Windows Phone 8 OS. The phone carried very similar hardware to the Galaxy S3 and had a 4.8-inch Super AMOLED display, a 1.5GHz dual-core processor and an 8-megapixel camera as its main features.

Giving that the ATIV S received a positive review and the device is now more than 8 months old, Samsung is now possibly thinking of releasing an updated version of the this smartphone, so as to complete with Nokia.

    3. Galaxy S4 Zoom

Another highly rumored product of Samsung of late is its new camera phone, which is duded the “Galaxy S4 Zoom.” The device is rumored to feature a 16-megapixel camera with 10x optical zoom, a 4.3-inch qHD Super AMOLED display, 8GB of internal storage capacity, Micro SD card support up to 64GB and the Android Jelly Bean operating system with Samsung’s own Touch Wiz Nature UX interface.

    4. Galaxy S4 Mini

The rumors of a smaller version of the Galaxy S4, presumably called Galaxy S4 Mini, are flying on the web these days. Countless reports shows that this small brother of Galaxy S4 will make its premiere on Samsung “Premiere 2013” Event, and the device will comes with an Exynos 5210 1.6GHz dual-core processor, a 4.3-inch Super AMOLED display with qHD resolution (540×960), an 8-megapixel rear camera and 4G LTE among others.

After entering into the Windows Phone mobile field with the ATIV S phone last year, Samsung is possible to release a new ATIV-branded Windows 8 tablet or laptop with detachable touchscreen. • Upcoming HTC Mobile Phone Bomb: HTC Windows Phone C620e and Dual-Core HTC Desire X

Posted on August 27th, 2012 David Brooks | No comments

As one of the most famous mobile phone manufactures in the world, HTC has always been concentrating on providing mobile phone users with advanced and up-to-date smartphones. There have been reports previously that HTC would be going to introduce two new models of smartphones, one of which is the HTC J while the other one is the new entry mobile phone for the dual-core mobile phone market, the HTC Desire X. ePrice just got the spy pictures of HTC Desire X and obtained the news that the mobile phone would be released in the coming days. Aside from these two models, after the leaked news from Bluetooth certification websites about two models of HTC Windows Phone 8 smartphones, there’re also reports about another HTC Windows Phone 8 mobile phone, which is reportedly named as HTC C620e, from Wi-Fi certification website of Indonesia. Both Desire X and C620e are reported to adopt dual-core processor.

HTC Desire XHTC Desire X would adopt 1GHz dual-core Qualcomm S4 MSM8225 CPU + Adreno 203 GPU processor. Aside from the main update in processor, Desire X will also include the camera configurations of HTC One series. For other features, HTC Desire X will run Android 4.0 ICS operating system and come with HTC Sense 4.0 user interface. The mobile phone features a large 4.0″ WVGA screen display, making it an excellent choice to watch HD videos on HTC Desire. The phone would have a 5MP main camera at the back supporting auto-focus and LED flashlight. Meanwhile, Beats Audio effect makes this smartphone a good audio player for you to enjoy music, while the battery is movable for recharging.

HTC C620eFor the HTC C620e, it is specially marked as WP8 mobile in the leaked news. The PM233xx test model might be the origin of this phone. According to the reports, the previously leaked HTC Accord seems to be more similar to HTC C620e, which is also on the list of the first HTC WP8 mobile phones to be shippable this October. Thus, HTC C620e might mostly probably be in the name of HTC Accord. Just like HTC Desire X, HTC C620e also comes with Qualcomm S4 MSM8260A dual-core processor. Also leaked are its 4.3″ 720P Super LCD2 touchscreen display, built-in 8MP camera with support of 1080P video recording, IGB RAM and NFC support function. As for the detailed release date, it is reported to be this October. So let’s just wait for some time.

More detailed information would be provided.

  • Preview of Windows Phone 8 features before Windows Phone Developers Conference

Posted on June 20th, 2012 David Brooks | No comments

Microsoft has just released its first tablet PC Surface days ago on the June 18th event. With the approaching of Windows Phone Developer’s Conference on Wednesday in San Francisco, what will Microsoft bring to us? Will we see the official release of Windows Phone 8? Well, even though Microsoft has been mute on the conference plan, it is for sure that the company will launch the Windows Phone 8 operating system. Riding a wave of momentum generated by the Surface tablet unveiled on Monday, Microsoft will be outlining plans for Windows Phone 8 on Wednesday as part of the company’s push to take on Apple and Google in the mobile market. Now, the concerns about Windows Phone 8 in fact should be what features of Windows Phone 8 will be introduced by Microsoft on the conference, but not whether it would be launched or not. The latest report from WPCentral’s Daniel Rubino has unveiled some exclusive information about Windows Phone 8 features, including consolidating Skype greatly, built-in Nokia maps, Windows Phone wallet, and more native codes for developers, etc. Check the following content to get the most possible features of Windows Phone 8 might include.

    Windows Phone 8

Upgrade apps on Windows Phone 7: Not long before, some Microsoft stuff said all Windows Phone could be upgraded to Windows Phone 8 Apollo. But Microsoft cleared the rumors by claiming that the “upgrade” in fact means all apps on the existing Windows Phone 7 could be used on the new OS. It’s believed that Microsoft would give a satisfactory answer on whether other existing Windows Phones could be upgraded to Windows Phone 8 or not.

Screen resolution: Screen resolution has been also a big concern on Windows Phone 8, as it could determine whether users could watch 720P video on Windows Phone 8 or enjoy 1080P videos on Windows Phone 8, just like the new iPad. The latest news from Daniel Rubino said that the new OS supports only 480×800, 768×1280 and 720×1280 screen resolutions.

New UI: Will Windows Phone 8 user interface be the same as that of Windows Phone 7? Quite probably. Of course, there must be some differences.

More native codes for developers: Just as leaked before, Daniel Rubino mentioned that the Windows Phone 8 would provide developers with more native codes, to enable developers develop more powerful and practical apps, and make it convenient for developers to transfer apps from iOS and Android to Windows Phones.

Consolidate Skype and VOIP: It’s very possible that Microsoft would talk about how to deep consolidate Windows Phone 8 OS with Skype and third-party app VOIP.

Combine Nokia maps: The cooperation between Microsoft and Nokia includes not only cell phones, but also background services. There’s great possibility of Windows Phone 8 OS combining Nokia Maps.

Windows 8 core: One reason making Windows Phone 8 attractive is that it’s rumored it would adopt Windows NT core, which is the fundamental core of Windows 8.

Apart from the above features, Daniel Rubino also predicted that Windows Phone 8 would add memory expansion function, NFC function and realize encoding on native BitLocker and security booting (business users), etc.

All anticipations are really wonderful, but we still need to wait for the official release of Windows Phone 8. Wait and see what features Daniel Rubino got.

  • 8 Reasons Why Windows 8 Tablets Would Beat Apple iPad 3

Posted on February 13th, 2012 David Brooks | No comments

Windows 8 is the next generation of Microsoft’s operating system for personal computers, laptops, and tablets. It upgrades with major changes, such as an integrated software store–similar in concept to Apple’s Mac App Store–and support for ARM chips. Metro is the name of the new touch-centric user interface in Windows 8. Without a doubt, the purpose of Microsoft’s Windows 8 operation system is to compete with Apple iPad. Just several days ago, I wrote a post namely Mac OS X Lion vs. Windows 8 Developer Preview speed comparison, which made a comparison between Mac OS X Lion and Windows 8 Developer Preview in speed testing. The result shows that the Windows 8 Developer Preview takes the lead a little. Today, I would like to share something with you to see whether Windows 8 tablet could beat the Apple iPad 3, totally 8 reasons for your reference:

Windows 8 Tablet vs. iPad 21. Business users
Currently, many iPad users handle business with iPad. But Apple has no clear plan to enter large enterprises market with their iPad for business, which Microsoft on the contrast is quite familiar with. If Microsoft could make full use of this, the market share of Windows 8 tablet would be increased enormously.

    2. New Office
The Microsoft Office is still the killer app in Windows operation system, especially in business market. A fatal reason for the failure of Microsoft’s own brand tablets is that the Office compatibility was damaged in the versions before the Windows 8. Now, Microsoft would provide Office support for tablets with Intel and ARM processors, though it is still not clear whether Microsoft would bring out complete Metro Office.

    3. Mixed type of tablets
The Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime and Leveno IdeaPad Yoga are all multifunctional, not only as a tablet, but also a notebook device, which Apple iPad could not do.

    4. Metro user interface
Have to admit that the Microsoft Metro user interface is really beautiful and attractive, which may snatch users from iPad cause they would prefer Metro user interface to iOS interface.

    5. SkyDrive
Through a Windows ID, users could visit SkyDrive cloud content via any devices, including PC, Xbox, tablets, etc. while Windows 8 includes SkyDrive support.

    6. Run two apps simultaneously
For Windows 8 tablet users, it is a quite practical function to run two apps simultaneously on one screen.

    7. Nokia tablets
The Finland Nokia has been famous for its stable hardware around the world. It was reported that some time in this summer, Nokia would bring out Windows 8 tablet, which would no doubt arouse users’ interest.

    8. Wider options
Apple iPad only has one option, while Windows 8 tablets are provided and supported by various big businesses, which results in wider options for optimization.

By comparing these two tablets, now you may have your decision in your mind. But these are just for your reference. And due to the specs of the upcoming iPad 3’s are still not clear, there are always changes. So, stay clear if you want to get one Windows 8 tablet or an iPad 3.
