• Top 10 Most Popular Christmas Movies for Kids and Family for Christmas 2012

Posted on November 27th, 2012 David Brooks No comments

Once again, the hottest holiday in the year comes. As a traditional holiday, Christmas in many countries is now also a celebration of the secular part of the holiday. People could have now many ways to celebrate this holiday, like shopping, decorating, gifting, enjoying delicious food, playing Christmas games, etc. among which watching Christmas movies becomes more and more popular in most families.

For most people, Christmas is a time to be with family. Apart from the Christmas meal and gifts, it would be an excellent choice to watch movies together to experience the holiday spirit. Today, I’ve collected some most popular Christmas movies suitable for kids and family for watching on Christmas 2012. Check them below. At least one would meet your needs.

    Top 10 Christmas movies

A Charlie Brown Christmas: A perennial fave that addresses the material and spiritual aspects of the holiday season, A Charlie Brown Christmas offers families a break from the buy!buy!buy! clamor surrounding Christmas. The storyline follows the ups and downs of Charlie Brown, initially depressed by the commercialism of Christmas, but ultimately buoyed by directing the school pageant, a pep talk from Linus, and the strength of a sad little fir tree. Kids and parents alike will enjoy bopping along the Vince Guaraldi’s iconic musical score.

The Polar Express: In this family film about believing, Tom Hanks directed and voiced many of the characters in this excellent take on the classic children’s novel. A little boy who doesn’t believe in Santa rides the magical Polar Express to the North Pole to find out the truth.

How the Grinch Stole Christmas: With two versions to choose from now, the animated version still wins – mostly because of the memorable songs that almost everyone young and old can sing from memory. This Dr. Seuss story about the Grinch who hated Christmas never

Elf: This new family friendly holiday classic features SNL funny man Will Ferrell as Buddy the Elf, who has lived at Santa’s Workshop with the other elves his whole life. Discovering that he’s human, Buddy finds himself in NYC dealing with the real world as he tries to get to know his father who incidentally, is on the naughty list.

Frosty the Snowman: An animated cartoon about Frosty the snowman, who springs to life when the children place a magic hat upon his head. We all know the song, “Frosty the Snowman,” and the upbeat wintery feeling it brings. This wonderful favorite is available on the same DVD as “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.”

Miracle on 34th Street: Kris Kringle–unbeknownst to cynical, market-minded adults, the real Santa Claus–is hired to play himself at Macy’s Department Store, New York City. He finds himself in a situation where he must convince an unbelieving little girl, and others, that he is the real Santa. NR

Home Alone: Eight-year-old Kevin McCallister is accidentally left home alone by his family while they fly off to France for Christmas vacation. Kevin loves his freedom, delightedly gorging himself on sweets and staying up late — until he is forced to defend his home from a team of burglars. But Kevin learns that self-defense can be fun too, as he goes about flying to defeat the bumbling thieves. Rated PG.

    Merry Christmas

Veggie Tales: The Star of Christmas: If you’re looking for a movie that reinforces the biblical Christmas story without simply retelling it, then get this Veggie Tales movie. Favorite characters Bob the Tomato and Larry the Cucumber star as Cavis and Millward, two producers of a huge Christmas musical spectacular with more lights and sparkle than anyone has ever seen. But when the church across town plans a Christmas pageant for the same night, the competition is on. This adventure will teach kids about loving each other and God’s love for us through the gift of His Son, Jesus. Not only is this movie fun to watch, it’s a great introduction for young children to the significance of the Christmas story.

Santa Claus is Comin’ to Town: This classic Christmas movie is narrated by Fred Astaire, and it’s a lot of fun. It’s an historical, yet fictional account of how Santa Claus came to be. The movie follows Kris Kringle from his childhood to becoming an adult, meeting and falling in love with the future Mrs. Claus, and bringing happiness and joy to children with special gifts and toys. Just like other stop-animation specials from that time, this one is also filled with catchy tunes including the famous title song, sung by Astaire. Couple this movie with Rudolph for an entire history lesson (sort of) on the origins of legendary Christmas

Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer: “Pull up an ice block and lend an ear” to this fantastic tale of how Rudolph became Santa’s most famous and valuable reindeer. Made as a TV special in the 1960s, Rudolph continues to be a classic Christmas movie for kids that each generation falls in love with. More than just a Christmas story, this movie tells the tale of misfits such as an elf who wants to be a dentist, a reindeer with a shiny nose, an explorer who can’t complete his quest, and a snow monster who wants to be loved and how they come together to gain acceptance and find their purposes in life. Lots of memorable music and dialogue make this a movie your kids will want to watch again and again.

Some of these movies are available from Amazon in DVD discs. So, if you want to watch these Christmas DVD movies on your own handsets, like iPad mini or Galaxy S 3, you need to use a DVD to video converter to help you convert Christmas DVD movies to video for your devices. • What Fun Things to Do on Christmas Day 2012 aside from the Traditional Celebrating Ways?

Posted on November 27th, 2012 David Brooks No comments

Traditionally a Christian holiday, Christmas in many countries is now also a celebration of the secular part of the holiday, with lots of shopping, entertainment, Christmas lights, and Santa showing up in full furs despite the fact that some are smack in the middle of the tropics.

For most people, Christmas is a time to be with family, but if you don’t celebrate the holiday or you are just looking for something different to do on Christmas Day, you can find alternative activities

The packages are unwrapped, the cookies are eaten, and everyone’s looking for something to do. There are alternatives to spending the day at home, and not surprisingly, a lot of them include the outdoors.

    Merry Christmas

    1. Take in a Movie

For some families, seeing a movie on Christmas Day is part of their holiday tradition. The season features family films and holiday themed stories, and movies provide a great place to relax and unwind. So many people do this that theaters tend to be crowded. But there are a lot of choices this year, you can watch take a hot movie at home actually. Convert Christmas movie video to your iPad or and video players, or even you have the right to watch Christmas DVD movies on iPad mini for ultimate film enjoyment.

    2. Take a hike

You’ll find a variety of hiking trails, nature trails, and picnic facilities all over the central Arizona area, many of which are open on Christmas Day. Check online or call before you go. If you got new hiking boots, a GPS or a camera this holiday season, these are a great spots to test them out.

    3. Fish in an urban lake

We have lots of lakes in and around Phoenix just made for that new fishing pole. It isn’t bass or salmon fishing, but it’s fun. Don’t forget — catch and release.

    4. Visit the Monuments and Memorials

Christmas Day is a good time to see the monuments and memorials in DC and Northern Virginia. Although the visitor centers are not open, you can still get up close and enjoy the majestic views. It’s also an easy day to find parking close by!

Not everyone spends Christmas Day opening presents and singing Christmas carols. For some folks, Christmas feels much like any other day, except without as much to do. Need a break from shopping, baking and mailing holiday cards? Then why not try out the fun Christmas activities above.

  • Christmas Gift Ideas – Top 5 Christmas Gifts Costing only $5 from Fiverr

Posted on December 21st, 2011 David Brooks No comments

Christmas is just around the corner and people are all busy preparing for it. As an important Christmas content, Christmas gifts selection always become a difficult problem for all of us. Have you been ready to gifting your Christmas gifts and wishes to your friends and family members? Or what do you plan to gift if you still have no idea on what to gift? Well, thanks to Stephen Chapman, we could get some free suggestions on Christmas gifts ideas via a really low cost, only $5 for each choice. You can get your Christmas gifts ready for your friends within just a very short time with low cost. Check the bellow content to get to know what the Christmas gift ideas are.

Summary: What would you do for $5? With Fiverr, you can get people to do some pretty amazing/insane things for you, so why not a unique Christmas gift? Check out what I had some people do for me!

My friends, I’d like to direct you to one of my absolute favorite sites on the Internet: Fiverr

Long story short, Fiverr is a site where you pay people just $5 to do some pretty outstanding/hilarious/outrageous/*insert emphatic word here* things for you, no catch. And right now, they have Christmas specials going on that you can take advantage of. It’s seriously one of my favorite sites on the whole of the Internet, and you will see why shortly.

A few months ago, I allocated $50 to spend across 10 different people (that’s $5 a person) who had Fiverr gigs I was interested in. For all of them, I went with a common theme of my name and/or my search ninja series here on ZDNet (see part 1 and part 2, if you’re interested). From all of them, what follows are my top-5 favorites with brief explanations for each. Let them serve as small examples of what you can get people on Fiverr to do for you! The turnaround time for each of these was no more than 48 hours:

1 – Over-the-top testimonial: This is arguably my favorite of the bunch. For $5, this guy would create an over-the-top testimonial for you. I told him I wanted him to use my name along with “search ninja,” but to go to town doing whatever he wanted for the skit. This is what he came up with:

2 – Name on cappuccino froth: For $5, this kind lady would write your name or a very short message atop the froth of a cappuccino. Photoshop, you say? Not so! She takes multiple-angle images for you and will even add more of your message in a newspaper crossword puzzle beneath your cappuccino if you so desire! If you have a cappuccino or coffee lover, they might just love something like this to frame or use for their Twitter avatar!

Stephen Chapman Cappuccino3 – Banana suit testimonial: For $5, this girl would say whatever you wanted her to say in a banana suit! Totally ridiculous, but when you think about it, you’re getting someone to record themselves saying whatever you want them to say. In a banana suit. How awesome is that!? And for only $5? Sold!

4 – Search ninja caricature: For this $5 Fiverr gig, the girl would create a caricature based on specifications/images you provide. All I wanted was something that looked like me in a Ninjutsu gi with Google’s ‘G’ in my hand and my name along with “search ninja” written above/below. This is what she came up with:

Stephen Chapman Search Ninja5 – Radio voice testimonial: For my final Fiverr gig, this guy with over 20 years of radio experience offered to read and record a script you provide. As such, I quickly came up with a radio-like testimonial for him to read. This is the final result:

To close, I have to say that my absolute FAVORITE Fiverr gig is one that’s chock-full of NSFW language. Think George Carlin. This wonderfully kind lady, who does a wide array of skits, agreed to perform a skit where she acts like someone who gets miffed at me because I contacted her about sensitive documents on her site that were indexed in Google, and then creates a YouTube-like complaint video cussing me out as though I maliciously hacked her Web site. It’s not appropriate to post here and I don’t want to put it on YouTube without first creating an intro message explaining that it’s not real, but I mention it simply because it’s just one more example of the random things you can get people to do for you on Fiverr.

So, what are you waiting for? I mean, you’d be extremely hard-pressed to beat the sheer satisfaction derived from a $5 Fiverr Gig, so head on over now and start checking out some of the things people are willing to do for YOU! And by all means, feel free to chime in via the comment section below to share your Fiverr experiences, favorite gigs, etc.

To note, I planned on doing a more comprehensive article about Fiverr in January (including how the people who do these gigs make next to nothing), but the love of my life called me up tonight (at the time of this writing, it’s approximately 8:45 PM on 12/19/2011) and said, “Hey, have you written that Fiverr article yet? If not, you should do one about it being a perfect last-minute gift idea for the person who already has everything they want!” Yes, dear.
