    Hosted by Ricky Gervais, the 69th Golden Globe Awards were broadcast live from the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, California on January 15, 2012, by NBC. With the broadcast live progressing, the final winners of various Golden Globe awards were eventually unveiled. George Clooney won the leading man battle for Best Actor at the 2012 Golden Globe Awards by beating out actors Brad Pitt, Leonardo DiCaprio and Ryan Gosling, while Meryl Streep topped Viola Davis in the Best Actress category.     The Golden Globe Award is an accolade bestowed by the 93 members of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) recognizing excellence in film and television, both domestic and foreign. The annual formal ceremony and dinner at which the awards are presented is a major part of the film industry’s awards season, which culminates each year with the Academy Awards. The full list of film and television nominees for the 69th annual Golden Globes, airing Jan. 15 at 8 p.m. ET/5 PT on NBC, has been disclosed online recently.
