• Top 5 Most Reliable Unconfirmed features of iPhone 5

Posted on August 9th, 2012 David Brooks No comments

We have all known that the next generation of Apple’s mobile operating system, the iOS 6, would be coming to people this fall, though not specified the detailed release date. But on the release of Apple’s next iPhone, Apple keeps it unveiled. All technology media and websites are becoming truly crazy in speculating when iPhone 5 would be released and what new and attractive features iPhone 5 might get for people. As for the iPhone 5 release date, some previous rumors said it would be August, which now seems to be impossible. The widespread saying about the release date might be September or October. It is very clear that the iPhone 5 would surely own the features what iPhone 4S would get. Of course, as an upgraded version, the iPhone 5 is sure to come with more wonderful configurations, like quad-core processor and iOS 6 operating system. The next-generation iPhone will no doubt bring some radical changes for users, and it will also mark a very public break-up between Apple and Google. Much-loved Google products on iOS will now disappear or be replaced with Apple variants, while hardware design changes will bring long-term improvements, but short-term headaches for some users.

iPhone 5Many features regarding iPhone 5 have been confirmed, like iOS 6 and quad-core processor. The following features are some most reliable unconfirmed features that iPhone 5 might get. You can get more information about iPhone 5 by reading the below content.

    NFC
Apple has been granted a patent for an iWallet application that uses Near Field Communication (NFC) to allow iPhone owners to quickly find bargains. The US Patent and Trademark Office published the patent on Wednesday, revealing that Apple has come up with an “on-the-go shopping list” application that will allow shoppers to identify a product and get pricing information from different retailers in the detected geographical location, to help users find the cheapest deal.

    19-pin Dock Connector
Another unconfirmed story, from Reuters, recently claimed that the next iPhone will use a smaller 19-pin dock connector as opposed to the 30-pin connector in all current iOS devices, while the iOS 6 is said to come with a 9-pin dock connector. The smaller connector will make room for a headphone jack on the bottom of the iPhone, Reuters’ two “sources familiar with the matter” said. The report follows a similar story that came out earlier this year from iMore, which said Apple was working on a “micro dock” for future devices.

    Improved Security
Still not confirmed, but Apple just announced it will buy AuthenTec, a mobile and network security provider that specializes in security techniques that could help make the iPhone more secure, such as content security and fingerprint recognition — a feature the security company sells to several computer makers and recently agreed to provide to Apple’s bitter smartphone rival, Samsung.

    Larger, Thinner Display
Rumors surfaced in May that Apple plans to launch a phone with a 4-inch screen with  640×1,136-pixel resolution, which would surely excite people with its wonderful performance of screen display effect. Users could watch video on iPhone 5 with better video effect. Also, Images of an alleged iPhone 5 front panel recently from the photo-sharing website Photobucket show panels with a longer frame where the screen would be, suggesting the next iPhone’s display will be larger than it is now. The image shows the frame’s front-facing camera in the center of the device, just above the earpiece.

    Support for 4G LTE
The new iPad has 4G LTE version for users to purchase. Also, various Apple’s iPhone competitors are adding 4G network connectivity to their smartphones. Meanwhile, though iPhone 4S has a very good selling by far, users are disappointed by the absence of 4G network connectivity. Most analysts believe that the new iPhone will house a Qualcomm chip that lets the phone connect with several flavors of 3G GSM and 4G LTE service.

  • Top 10 Funniest and Best Apps for iPhone and iPod Touch of 2012

Posted on July 31st, 2012 David Brooks No comments

The long anticipated next Apple iPhone, maybe named as iPhone 5, has been confirmed to be released this fall, mostly at the September 12th event as reported recently. Even though the detailed features of the next Apple iPhone have not been unveiled, upon the iPhone 4S, we can get a lot of apps to add fun to our iPhone. In this post, I would like to share some funny and wonderful apps for iPhone and iPod Touch which are emerged this year so far. These apps could include ones for killing time, image and video editing apps, email tools, user interface optimizing apps, and utilities that could speed up common iPhone tasks to improve your iPhone and iPod performance. With the help of these practical apps, you could get a more productive iPhone or iPod Touch. Some of these apps could be installed directly on your iPhone, while still some other apps need to be installed on your computer as assistant.

iPhone AppsSparrow: If you need a gesture based email client to replace your Mail app, Sparrow would be your right choice. You only need to have a Gmail, Google Apps or IMAP account. This app enables you to pull down the inbox list to refresh your inbox and also you can swipe across a message to reply, archive and delete emails. This app has full support for Gmail’s archive, labels, and priority inbox features. $2.99

Clear: Clear makes use of gestures in a very Apple-esque way to manage your task list. List items are displayed in a heatmap by priority and you create new items by pinching items apart, dragging from the top of the list or tapping at the bottom. To mark items as done you just swipe left or right. Clear is very intuitive with no buttons or switches to act as a simple task manager without advanced features like setting time or location-based alerts. $2.99

Draw Something: Draw Something is a funny app to help you kill time with your friends or family. You challenge your friends to guess the word you are drawing and you get game currency for each guess, depending on the word difficulty. Starting with simple sketches, you can get more colors and drawing tools for your Draw Something masterpiece as you own more coins. Free

iPhoto: If you need a photo editing tool on your iPhone, you can refer to iPhoto for iPhone. iPhoto is packed with effects, filters and adjustments for your photos. The app organizes your mobile photo library and integrates with Facebook, Twitter and Flickr. You can also send photos wirelessly to other iOS devices running iPhoto in the foreground with the wireless beaming feature enabled. $4.99

SloPro: Strictly, this app is a video recording and editing tool. SloPro is a perfect video shooting app to help you take 60fps slow-motion video in 720p HD with your iPhone 4S only. The built-in editor allows you to select in an out points where the video will be slowed down. It’s free to get this app, but the recorded and edited videos would be covered with watermark. You can spend $1.99 to update it to remove the watermark and export results to the camera roll or iTunes.

Video Editor: This app is useful for you to edit images and videos on your computer and then transfer the edited videos to your iPhone or iPod Touch freely. It provides different effects, transitions and titles, as well as other editing features for you.

Frameographer: Also as a video editing tool, Frameographer helps you create stop motion and time-lapse videos in a simple and straight-forward way. Since staging such videos can be time-consuming, the app lets you stop a project and resume it at a later time. You can easily delete unwanted frames and change the frames per second. But this app is very power consumptive. $2.99

The Daily for iPhone: As a popular app on iPad, the iPad-only newspaper The Daily has also transitioned to the iPhone this year. It’s a separate, less expensive to subscribe version of The Daily, which is free of charge if you already subscribe to the iPad version. The layout is like a mix of Facebook and Sparrow, and unlike the tablet version, you also get a selection of free ad-supported stories every day. What’s more, it’s free.

FreezePaint: A quite fun and unique app to merge parts of a photo with another. You can freely create images you like with pictures you have. You simply take a photo, swipe your finger on the part of the picture you want to keep and then take another picture with the chosen frozen parts overlaid. Free

iTranslate Voice: iTranslate Voice is a translation app on your iPhone, looks a bit like Siri. You can choose the target language through flags provided, press the flag button and speak what you want to be translated. The app gives fairly accurate results. For accurate translation, it’s better for you to say simple sentences. You can also type text to translate. There’re 30 languages are included. Make sure you have connected to the internet. $0.99

Well, how do you think of these apps? Quite useful and practical, right? If you have some other better advices, feel free to share with us here in the comment part.

  • Leaked pictures confirm the appearance of next Apple iPhone?

Posted on May 30th, 2012 David Brooks No comments

The rumors about the next Apple iPhone begin to boost with the approaching of the WWDC 2012. A lot of eyes are focusing on the detailed phone specs and exact release date of the next generation of Apple iPhone. The tech blog 9to5mac.com on Tuesday just forwarded some leaked pictures of the next Apple iPhone, which were claimed to be from reliable Chinese parts supplier who is actually selling these parts. The leaked pictures could be the back plate for the upcoming new iPhone or one of the early prototypes people are talking about worldwide. From the leaked pictures, it’s very easy to tell that the next Apple iPhone owns a very similar appearance to that of iPhone 4S, but larger screen and thinner phone body. The iPhone 5 uses aluminum material with colorful panels on bottom and upper.

iPhone 5 balck white By carefully looking into the picture, the leaked part does follow a lot of the rumors and speculations, like the smaller dock connector at the bottom and thinner overall appearance. We are told the extra space on the bottom is used by Apple to enhance the speakers that will be louder and of a higher quality than the current iPhone. The supplier said the back plate is just one piece anchored by an aluminium alloy (not liquidmetal).

iPhone 5 white coverMeanwhile, these pictures seem to provide proofs of the speculations that the next iPhone would own a redesigned interface to be different from existing iPhones. The screen resolution is said to be 1136 x 640, with a screen size of 3.999 inches (diagonally), which excellently turns it to be a good choice of watching HD movies on iPhone 5.

iPhone 5 black white coverTaking the strict secret keeping policies of Apple into consideration, these pictures could, or could not, be the next iPhone. All the truths are still to be seen until the official release of Apple iPhone 5. But we all hope Apple would bring the world not only a smartphone with new appearance, but also some other practical functions like NFC, iOS 6, A6 processor, better battery, 4G network connectivity, better camera, etc.

Though the focus on Apple these days has been about the next Apple iPhone, other news from Apple will also be exciting. Apple released the upgraded iOS 5.1.1 for iPad, iPod touch, and iPhone in the beginning of this month. But just some days before, Apple dropped the revised iOS 5.1.1 build for GSM iPhone 4, which is available for new installs. • Apple iPhone 5 news: one of the two 3.999 inches new Apple iPhone being tested would be iPhone 5

Posted on May 23rd, 2012 David Brooks No comments

The new iPhone has been talked for a long time. People are guessing about what it would bring and when it would come out. I have written a post on the release date of iPhone 5 which indicates no release of iPhone 5 on this WWDC. And this seems to be more reliable since the latest news from 9to5Mac. The Phonearena writer Alan F has wrote a post about the news from 9to5Mac. Check the news bellow:

According to 9to5Mac, at Apple HQ, testing is taking place on a couple of prototype handsets, one of which will probably become the next Apple iPhone 5. The prototypes are disguised by being put in thick black shells which are designed to hide the true identity of the phone inside. Two of the models being tested have larger screens than the current 3.5 inches that used to be considered generously sized when the first Apple iPhone was launched in 2007. Since then, we have seen the envelope widen from the 4.3 inches that seemed so large on the HTC HD2 to the 5.3 inches on the Samsung GALAXY Note. The two Apple iPhone prototypes with the larger screen are internally called the iPhone 5.1 and the iPhone 5.2.

    iPhone 5

The HTC HD2 raised the bar with its 4.3 inch screen

Both the iPhone 5.1 and the iPhone 5.2are in the PreEVT stage of testing and go by the code names N41AP and N42AP respectively. The pair both sport a 3.999 inch screen, measured diagonally. Besides increasing the size of the display, Apple is also adding pixels to the screen as the new models have a resolution of 640 x 1136, which produces excellent digital enjoyment of watching HD videos on iPhone 5. That’s an extra 176 pixels added down. The width of the screen will remain 1.9632 but will now be 3.484 inches tall and the aspect ratio will be close to 16:9.

There is also speculation that Apple will be working to maximize the extra real estate on iOS 6 by adding a fifth row of icons (not including the stationary icons, of course) and this is where the extra pixels come in to keep the screen a Retina display. Both of these models are said to have a home button and a smaller dock connector. The new dock connector is said to be a smaller version of the current 30-pin one and is said to be in between a micro USB connector and a mini one.

Considering that the last two Apple iPhone models ended up on the floor of a bar, we would imagine that the Cupertino based firm has tightened up security in terms of who can test a unit off-campus and who gets to take a prototype home.
