Motorola X Phone release on August 1st

The newly leaked photos tease unique design features such as Magic Glass, a laminated aluminum structure, with dual LTE MIMO antennas that could help boost broadband speeds. According to GottaBeMobile, Magic Glass will allow Motorola to create a seamless device with a more “premium feel.”

“Moto X features something called Moto Magic Glass,” Android and Me’s Taylor Wimberly wrote on his Google+ page. “This is a single sheet of Gorilla Glass which is molded to a special polymer to make a continuous surface that wraps around the entire front and edges of the device. There is zero gap with the back.”

As previously reported, rumored specifications for the new Motorola Moto X includes a 4.5 inch HD display, with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. The Moto X will be powered by a dual core 1.7GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro processor. The smartphone will come with an Adreno 320 GPU and 2GB of RAM.

  • Motorola Dual-core flagship Droid HD pictures leaked indicate 1080P HD video recording

Posted on August 18th, 2011 David Brooks No comments

Since the shock news that Google acquired Motorola Mobility Holdings at $12.5 billion, one more news comes: the long rumored Dual-core flagship Motorola Droid HD leaked with several pictures indicating the specs and features, along with the leak is the Motorola Droid Bionic. Still, there aren’t too many surprises here from the leaked photos about the specs and features, with the global-capable handset boasting a TI OMAP 4430 1GHz dual-core CPU, 1GB of RAM, 4.5-inch display, an 8 megapixel rear camera, and microUSB / HDMI ports. The following picture includes a leaked image of Motorola Droid Bionic (left) and Motorola Droid HD (right):

Motorola Droid Bionic and Motorola Droid HD

Just from the above picture, we may guess that the Motorola Droid HD would own the same display screen size as that of Motorola Droid Bionic, 4.5 inch touchscreen. But it is very possible that the screen resolution of the Motorola Droid HD would reach 1280*720 pixels. The following picture is the leaked image of Motorola Droid HD.

    Motorola Droid HD

From the leaked photos, we could roughly get the Motorola Droid HD specs and features. This device seems to be running Gingerbread, and rocks a 4.5-inch display (presumably with qHD or even 1280×720 resolution, considering the device’s name), which would be excellent for you ro convert DVD to Droid HD or rip Blu-ray to Droid HD for ultra movie enjoyment on the go. And also, it features an 8 megapixel 1080p rear-facing camera and a front-facing shooter to enable you record HD videos to upload to YouTube and other video sharing sites to share with your friends and family. There’s also a pair of side loading SIM and microSD slots on the left side of the device to enable freely transition of data, a volume rocker and what looks like a power button on the right, a slight bump for the camera pod around back (which sports an LED flash and speaker, as well), along with a large, thin battery that appears to be removable. Perhaps most notable about the HD is its seemingly super thin design — we’re estimating it’s between 8.5 and 9mm, which would put it in the same league as Samsung’s Galaxy S II, which measures 8.49mm.

For the detailed specs, we still need to wait for the official release of this new flagship of Motorola Droid HD.

  • Google acquired Motorola Mobility Holdings for $12.5 billion to enhance mobile computing competitiveness

Posted on August 16th, 2011 David Brooks No comments

The news of the combination of the two companies – Google and Motorola Mobility Holdings has been confirmed. Google acquired Motorola Mobility Holdings on Monday for a total $12.5 billion, $40.00 per share in cash. Motorola Mobility will remain a licensee of Android and Android will remain open. Google will run Motorola Mobility as a separate business. The transaction was unanimously approved by the boards of directors of both companies. The acquisition of Motorola Mobility would definitely enable Google to supercharge the Android ecosystem and enhance mobile computing competitiveness of Google.

    Google buys Motorola Mobility

Motorola Mobility’s total commitment to Android has created a natural fit for our two companies. Together, we will create amazing user experiences that supercharge the entire Android ecosystem for the benefit of consumers, partners and developers. I look forward to welcoming Motorolans to our family of Googlers,” said Larry Page, CEO of Google.

Sanjay Jha, CEO of Motorola Mobility, said, “This transaction offers significant value for Motorola Mobility’s stockholders and provides compelling new opportunities for our employees, customers, and partners around the world. We have shared a productive partnership with Google to advance the Android platform, and now through this combination we will be able to do even more to innovate and deliver outstanding mobility solutions across our mobile devices and home businesses.

Google’s Android software is widely used by Motorola and several other mobile device-makers like HTC, LG, etc. and there have been quite many popular smartphones and devices based on the Android OS, like Motorola Xoom, Motorola Droid Bionic, Motorola Droid X, etc. Along with the excellent mobile phone and Android OS performance, smart mobile phone users could make full use of these smart phones: freely surf on the internet, record HD videos for sharing, rip DVD to Android OS phones to watch HD DVD movies on Android phones, rip Blu-ray to Motorola Xoom to watch HD Blu-ray on Xoom in HD video playback, etc.

    Motorola Droid Bionic

Along with the acquisition, there are many advantages for both Google and Motorola Mobility: Google itself has not been a device-maker before now, but this deal, the biggest acquisition for Google to date, marks that Google would take its place among a select group of companies that make both hardware and software for hand-held computing gadgets. What’s more, another strategic advantage of this acquisition is the access to more than 17,000 patents held by Motorola for Google, which would help Google stave off a barrage of claims levied by rivals battling the company’s Android mobile operating system. And due to the excellent performance of Motorola Mobility in set-top boxes for cable TV, this acquisition would also boost Google’s faltering efforts in Internet-connected TVs.
