The long anticipated iPad HD (once rumored as iPad 3) is going to be unveiled today on Apple’s March 7th event. With the excellent hardware and software updates, like the Retina display and full HD experience, again Apple has successfully made its product, this time the next generation of iPad, attract numerous eyes around the world. However, the iPad HD is not the only tablet in the tablet market people are longing for. Though the Apple iPads are still in the leading position in tablet market share, a variety of strong challengers have quickly grown up to sway the dominant position of iPads. The Kindle Fire is one of these tablets competitors. The just past MWC 2012 had brought several outstanding tablet competitors to iPad HD. More surprisingly, besides the update in hardware, some innovational elements are added in to satisfy customers’ demands, which in certain degree further shorten the difference between smartphones and tablets. Check the following content to know the strong competitive tablets released on MWC 2012 to iPad HD:

    Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1

Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1The Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 comes with a 10.1 inch large display with 1280×800 screen resolution, really suitable for you to watch movies on Galaxy Tab tablets, featuring 1GHz dual-core processor, 1GB RAM and support of Bluetooth 3.0. A 3MP camera is adopted by this tablet, which supports to operate on HSPA+ network connectivity to reach up to 21Mbps downloading speed. The long battery life is one of the advantages of Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1, owning 7000mAh battery which tops among various excellent tablet options. Providing both 16GB and 32GB variants for users, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 operates with the Google Android 4.0 OS.

    Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1

Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1The large 5.3 inch screen display with 1280×800 high screen resolution and dual-core processor Samsung Galaxy Note released last year has been a big surprise. This smartphone has been a popular device for users to watch DVD movies on Galaxy Note, but on this MWC 2012, Samsung released a new tablet named Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1, which makes much more sense than a 5.3-inch one if you intend on using a mobile device for note-taking or creating artwork. And contributing to that are the improvements that the S-Pen, with which the Galaxy Note 10.1 is equipped with, has undergone. The results are better input sensitivity and accuracy, which makes hand-written notes easily readable. And if that is not enough, some Adobe apps, Photoshop Touch being one of them, have been optimized for the S-Pen, which is something that artists and graphic designers are going to be happy to hear.

    Huawei MediaPad 10 FHD

Huawei MediaPad 10 FHDQuad-core processor has been the hottest topic in this MWC 2012, while Huawei dropped a big bomb to us with its awesome Ascend D quad superphone and MediaPad 10 FHD tablet. It is only 8.8mm thin and weighs 598g, which means it should be a burden to carry around. It will be available in the global market Q2 2012.

    Acer Iconia Tab A510

Acer Iconia Tab A510The 10.1 inch Acer Iconia Tab A510 is another quad-core processor released on MWC 2012, featuring NVIDIA Tegra3 processor. The screen resolution reaches 1280×800 pixels to deliver clear pictures. Operating on Android 4.0 OS, this tablet also features 1GB RAM and dual cameras. The new processor would save battery greatly for long operation.

    ASUS Padfone

ASUS PadfoneASUS officially introduces its annual highlight Padfone on MWC 2012, which combines tablet with phone, just like the Motorola Webtop. It features an incredible 4.3” smartphone featuring a Super AMOLED qHD display, the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 1.5Ghz dual core processor, Adreno 225 GPU, 1GB RAM, at least 16GB memory expansion, 8MP camera, support of 1080P HD video recording, 1520mAh battery, etc. The Station includes a 10.1 inch large screen with 1280×720 pixels resolution, Android 4.0, 6600mAh battery, etc. Together, this ASUS Padfone tablet produces excellent experience in smartphone and tablet using, like watch HD movies on ASUS Padfone. Two things would influence such kind of mobile devices. One is the user experience. The large screen display should bring more and better user experience for users. The other is price, which would directly influence target clients.

    Viewsonic ViewPad 10Pro

Vewsonic ViewPad 10ProMicrosoft released Windows 8 Customer Preview version after MWC 2012. During this congress, we were surprised to see the tablet with Windows 8 OS preview version. ASUS Transformer Pad Infinity 700 Series

    ASUS Transformer Pad Infinity

Offering both great build quality and specs, the ASUS Transformer Pad Infinity 700 Series immediately became one of our favorite tablets at MWC 2012. ASUS has demonstrated an incredible attention detail as far as outer appearance goes, without forgetting the specs side of things, coming up with an incredible product that we’re definitely looking forward to. Last, but not least, the 700 Series stays true to the Transformer line-up, having a beautiful keyboard dock sold alongside it. Once again, there are more than one reason to get the dock, as it will not only provide you with a full physical QWERTY, netbook-like experience, but will also increase the battery life of your device. The sad part here is that we don’t know yet when the tablet’s coming out, but are having our fingers crossed that its release is not too far away.

  • ASUS officially introduced the Padfone on MWC 2012 – A phone in a tablet on a keyboard

Posted on February 29th, 2012 David Brooks No comments

Just as said before the MWC 2012, ASUS formally unveiled its shape-shifting Padfone at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, an amazing combination of a smartphone and a tablet. As early as the CES officially kicked off, ASUS had handed out invitations for its Padfone event at Mobile World Congress 2012. Now, ASUS officially made this phone known to all. You could use it as a standalone 4.3-inch handset smartphone, but it will also be sold with a so-called station that effectively turns it into a 10-inch tablet. It will also be sold with an optional keyboard dock (just like the Prime) and a stylus that doubles as a receiver for when you receive phone calls. In this post, I would like to share some information on the new ASUS Padfone upon the phone and its accessories.

ASUS Padfone imageThe ASUS Padfone comes in a 4.3 inches Super AMOLED capacitive multi touch screen with qHD 960×540 resolution, with which you can freely watch HD movies on Padfone, like to watch DVD movies on Padfone. Powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 8260A Dual-Core 1.5 GHz processor, the ASUS Padfone is not that outstanding among the phones announced in this MWC. As to the operation system, this Padfone doesn’t let you down, boarding with Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich), which most flagship phones would adopt in 2012.

Take a tour around the device and you’ll find some predictable ports, including a micro-USB socket, a 3.5mm headphone jack and a microSD slot, which you can use to augment the 16GB to 64GB of internal storage. Also on board: Bluetooth 4.0, a gyroscope, rear 8 Mega-Pixel auto focus flash F2.2 aperture, compass and GPS with A-GPS support. Connectivity options include WCDMA (900, 2100 MHz), EDGE / GPRS / GSM (850, 1800 and 1900 MHz) and HSPA+, with theoretical download speeds topping out at 42Mbps. For the detailed specs, visit ASUS Padfone page.

Aside the phone part, this Padfone also includes tablet portion which consists of the docking elements, 10.1” PadFone Station (which produces even better experience for digital entertainment, like to watch Blu-ray movies on Padfone), and a battery (a 6600mAh one, to boot, as does the keyboard dock) – all the computing happens directly on the phone. A keyboard, which is the same size and dimensions as the one accompanying the Prime, and a stylus headset are also included to perfect this Padfone.

ASUS Padfone Dynamic switchASUS adopts DynamicDisplay technology to seamless transit between devices in both ways to automatically adjust the PadFone’s display layout when it is placed into the PadFone Station to enable you to view and enjoy more. The intelligent DynamicDisplay technology will also ensure that the app remembers where you stopped so that you can immediately continue playing that new game without having to start all over again when switching from PadFone to PadFone Station and vice versa.

The bellow hands-on video shows the performance of the transition between the phone and tablet with the help of DynamicDisplay technology:

ASUS claims on their official sites that this Padfone would expand your world: Expanded savings with one data plan for two devices; Expanded view from 4.3” PadFone to 10.1” PadFone Station and Expanded battery capacity – 5x with Station/9x with Station Dock. From the information we get currently, it seems so. Anyway, more information would be provided here.
