• Rumored No Longer: Apple Confirms September 7 as iPhone 7’s Announcement Date

Posted on August 29th, 2016 admin No comments

Apple has made it official that its next iPhone will be revealed to the world on September 7, the first Wednesday in September. Along with the announcement of its next iPhone, most likely called iPhone 7, it is also possible that Apple will roll out its new watch, too. The venue is once again at Bill Graham Civic Auditorium in San Francisco, with the familiar start time of 10 a.m. PT.

iPhone fans are now expecting the iPhone 7 and 7 plus to be unveiled by CEO Tim Cook and company. The current rumor mill points to nearly identical external designs to the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus, improved cameras (with a dual-lens system on the larger iPhone), and most controversially, no headphone jack.

The event would also offer the opportunity for Apple to repromote iOS 10, the update to its mobile operating system first unveiled in June. The free upgrade is expected to be rolled out to hundreds of millions of iPhones and iPads later in September.

The Apple Watch, a product that hasn’t been updated since April 2015, is also due for an upgrade. In addition to the new operating system (coming to existing watches alongside iOS 10), new fitness features including rumored GPS tracking could help position a refreshed watch as a better activity tracker.

Beyond new iPhones and wearables, Apple could also address the smart-home landscape: the launch of a dedicated Home app in iOS 10 means a bigger push for HomeKit-connected appliances and home accessories.

Apple’s line of Mac computers is also rumored for an eventual refresh including MacBook laptops with an OLED touch bar, but that’s said to be slated for later in the year.

  • Apple Reportedly to Launch New iPhone Video Editing App in 2017

Posted on August 28th, 2016 admin No comments

It is reported that Apple will release a new iPhone video editing app in 2017 that the new app will run on recent iPhone and iPad releases. The app is said to allow users to record video, apply filters, and send it to contacts or upload for sharing existing networks like Facebook or Twitter, which is similar to Snapchat. The design goals are reportedly one-hand use, with the complete process including image capture, editing, and uploading taking less than one minute.

Apple may have hired Joe Weil in December 2015 to helm the service. Weil co-developed the video blogging service KnowMe, and served as the President of advertising prototype company 321 Launch. Also it is reported that underway are evaluations of more social media sharing features for iOS. The same report claims that an expansion of Apple’s adaptive assistance functionality that makes suggestions to the user based on location and time of day may grow.

However, any growth of user data sharing is examined by an Apple panel that examines privacy issues with any proposed Apple feature. The privacy panel, as well as development issues may either delay release, or push it back past a projected 2017 release date. Information surfaced in March that three “privacy czars” must sign off on any product collecting customer data. The group attempts to keep customer data stored on a device rather than on Apple servers, and isolated in categories.

Debates between the three executives on the privacy panel are said to last at least a month, and reportedly have stretched out over a year. Any new social sharing feature implemented by Apple in 2017 would have to be examined by the trio first.

Apple has tried social networking in the past. Apple’s Ping was introduced in 2010 as a social way to promote music discovery. Apple CEO Tim Cook killed the product in 2012 with the introduction of iTunes 7.

  • Apple Music Festival will Feature Elton John, Alicia Keys, Chance the Rapper and More

Posted on August 25th, 2016 admin No comments

Apple on Thursday announced the full lineup of its upcoming Apple Music Festival, which will kick off on Sept. 18 in London. For the festival’s 10th anniversary, Apple managed to sign headliners Alicia Keys, Bastille, Britney Spears, Calvin Harris, Chance The Rapper, Elton John, Michael Bublé, OneRepublic, Robbie Williams and The 1975. The festival’s official webpage was subsequently updated with a full set list and promo video.

London-based Beats 1 DJ Julie Adenuga announced the full lineup live on air today. Headlining artists shared their thoughts on being invited to attend in a follow-up press release. The company also promised gradual news leading up to the event through Snapchat, Twitter.

“Over the past decade, the Festival has brought the biggest and best artists from all over the world to London and into the homes of millions of music fans,” said Oliver Schusser, Apple VP of International Content. “This year’s Apple Music Festival builds on that incredible legacy and we couldn’t be more excited to have another amazing lineup to celebrate our 10th birthday.”

Similar to a tie-in with Apple Music at last year’s festival, Apple will be offering special Apple Music Festival playlists, artist news and backstage interviews through its subscription streaming music service. The special content is set to run throughout September. In addition, Apple Music members in 100 countries can watch all ten nights of performances live and on-demand on their iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Mac, PC, Apple TV and Android phones.

As usual, tickets will not be sold for the annual event. Fans based in the UK must apply to win passes in prize drawings on Apple Music and through other media partners.

The event was previously called the iTunes Festival until Apple Music’s launch in 2015. Prior to that year, concerts were broadcast on an assortment of platforms, even MySpace in 2010.

  • Apple Reportedly to Release New 10.5-Inch iPad Pro in 2017

Posted on August 15th, 2016 admin No comments

According to a respected Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, whose latest predictions for the iPhone-maker were reported by MacRumors, Apple is reportedly planning to release a trio of new iPads in 2017, including a new size 10.5-inch iPad Pro and a low-cost 9.7-inch iPad. Kuo also claims that “revolutionary” changes could be made to the iPad’s design in 2018, with Apple perhaps integrating a flexible AMOLED display to offer “new selling points through radical form design and user behavior changes.”

Here is Kuo on Apple’s 2017 iPad line-up:

“We expect three new iPads (12.9″ iPad Pro 2, new size 10.5″ iPad Pro & low-cost 9.7″ iPad) to be launched in 2017, though this may not drive shipment growth amid structural headwinds; 2017F shipments to fall 10-20% YoY. If the iPad comes in a larger size, such as a 10.5” model, we believe it will be helpful to bid for tenders within the commercial and education markets. “

“As a result, we expect Apple to launch a 10.5″ iPad Pro in 2017. In addition, we estimate the 12.9″ iPad Pro 2 and 10.5″ iPad Pro will adopt the A10X processor, with TSMC being the sole supplier using 10nm process technology. The low-cost 9.7″ model may adopt the A9X processor, which is also exclusively supplied by TSMC.”

A 10.5-inch iPad Pro model for “commercial and education markets” would certainly fit current trends for Apple’s tablets. Last week, it was reported that while sales for the iPad were declining overall, demanding is surging from businesses and government. “Apple is stronger in the enterprise market with its devices than it is with consumers,” Forrester analyst Frank Gillet told The New York Times.

It’s worth noting that Kuo does not mention the 7.9-inch iPad mini in his report. It could be that the analyst does not have any solid predictions for the smaller iPad, but there’s also the possibility that the mini will be phased out as demand in that size range shifts to the larger iPhone models.

As for 2018, Kuo says this could be a year of big changes for the iPad. “Revolutionary iPad model likely to be introduced in 2018F at the earliest, with radical changes in form factor design & user behavior on adoption of flexible AMOLED panel,” he writes. The adoption of such technology would boost sales by offering “new selling points through radical form factor design and user behavior changes,” says Kuo.

  • WhatsApp Releases the New Version with A Voicemail Feature

Posted on August 11th, 2016 admin No comments

WhatsApp updated the new version for iOS and Android users today. The new WhatsApp version 2.16.8 (iOS) and WhatsApp version 2.16.229 (Android) come with the Voicemail feature, which is taking the messaging app a little closer to being a true phone replacement.

Voice messages can now be left voicemail-style when calls are rejected or not answered by the person being called.
The app update works when calls are either rejected or not answered. On the bottom right of the call screen, there will be a microphone icon. When pressing and holding that, people can record a voicemail message that will be sent when they release the button.

Voice messages were in WhatsApp before this, so the recent update is more like a UI tweak to make leaving voice messages more convenient when calling someone. It’ll be more familiar to anyone use to making calls the old-fashioned way, at least. There’s no way to play back the message before sending it, but if users don’t like what they are recording, they can swipe left to get rid of it before releasing the button.

The Voice Message will be sent to the contact as a record voice note and (s)he will be able to listen to it whenever (s)he wants. It is good to know that this feature comes to WhatsApp a week after the company has included the option to send Olympic rings emoji.

In addition to the voice messaging tweak, Android Police is reporting that the new update has made it possible to select multiple recipients when sending a text message or image. It’s pretty handy when people have news and need to share with a lot of people, but they don’t have all those people in the same group.

WhatsApp is playing a more and more important role in people’s daily conmunication. And deleting some WhatsApp messages or attachments by accident will be frustrating for users. An Chinese iOS software manufacturer, Leawo Software, releases a new iOS data recovery tool, which can help people recover WhatsApp messages or WhatsApp attachments from iOS devices with no data loss. The software also supports with the latest iOS devices, including iPhone SE/6S/6S Plus and iPad Pro.
