Exposure of New Flagship HTC Vigor, the First Beats Phone with 720p HD Touch Screen
Posted on August 16th, 2011 No commentsThe competition in the Smartphone market is so hard that every manufacturer has to do its best in order to win or survive. Apple stands out for its beautiful interface and huge apps while the Android league is wild about the hardware improvement. After the dual-core processor and 3D display, they are going for the 720p HD touch screen. HTC one of the most famous Android Smartphone manufacturer, is about to release a new flagship, its first 720p HD touch screen Android Smartphone or maybe the world’s first Beats Phone – HTC Vigor.
The world’s first Beats Phone
Days ago, HTC has invested $300million in Beats Electronics, whose premium Studio headphones has become the No. 1 seller of $100-plus models displacing previous leader Bose. It is very likely that HTC will use the Beats sound technology in its next Smartphone to battle Apple. Thus HTC Vigor might be the world’s first Beats phone.
4.3-inch 720p HD touch screen
The most attractive feature of HTC Vigor is that it will be equipped with a 4.3-inch 720p HD touch screen whose resolution is 1280×720. This would surely bring excellent visual experience to users. Till now, we know that HTC Vigor will be running on Android 2.3.4 with brand new HTC Sense 3.5 UI. But since it will be released this October so probably we could see Android Ice Cream Sandwich on HTC Vigor then.
1.5GHz dual-core processor
According to latest news, HTC Vigor will be equipped with Snapdragon MSM 8660 1.5GHz dual-core processor. In testing, the efficacy of Adreno 220 graphics processor chips integrated in CS is better than the PowerVR SGX540 and GeForce graphics processor chips which adopted by NVIDIA Tegra 2 dual-core processor platform.
Previously known as HTC Thunderbolt 2, an upgrade version of HTC Thunderbolt, HTC Vigor will have some similar features like 1G of RAM, 8MP camera with 1080p HD video recording ability and 4G network support.

Stanford University Engineering Professor Imagines See-through iPhone with Transparent Battery
Posted on August 9th, 2011 No commentsHave you ever imagined having a see-through iPhone 4, other than the elusive white iPhone 4? Or have you ever got such kind of transparent devices? Thanks to the Stanford University engineering professor, Yi Cui, now you may have the chance to get a see-through invisible iPhone 4 with the transparent battery designed and developed by him. The following post was written by Christina Hernandez of http://www.smartplanet.com/blog/, which made a detailed explanation of this new transparent battery. Check the bellow content to get a detailed acknowledgement of transparent batteries.
Written by Christina Hernandez.
Forget the elusive white iPhone. Yi Cui, an engineering professor at Stanford University, imagines a transparent iPhone.
Together with graduate student Yuan Yang, first author on a recent paper in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, Cui developed a transparent battery — potentially the final component needed to make fully transparent electronics. “If the batteries were not transparent,” Cui said in an interview, “then the device wouldn’t be transparent.”
Because the key components of batteries cannot be replaced or made transparent, Cui used a trick of the eye to develop the battery. He created a mesh-like framework for the battery electrodes. ”Each line in the grid is smaller than 50 microns,” he said. “When a human being looks at an object that’s smaller than 50 microns, it’s not visible. That’s how we make it transparent.”
The team found a transparent alternative to copper and aluminum in polydimethylsiloxane, a compound used in contact lenses, according to a news release. They deposited metals onto the rubbery material to make it conductive and poured it into molds to build the transparent grids. Yang created a transparent substance that served as both an electrolyte and a separator and inserted it between the electrodes, creating a functional battery. “It’s completely new,” Cui said.
Now, the researchers are working to increase the capacity of the transparent battery, which is only about half as powerful as its lithium-ion counterparts. And they’re hoping others take notice. “We’d like industry to pick up our concept,” Cui said, “and do the commercialization of these transparent batteries.”
From there, the possibilities are varied. ”Imagine you have a watch that you want to look transparent,” Cui said. “You can have your iPhone be transparent. You can have your laptop be transparent.”

Google updated Google+ iPhone app for iPad and iPod touch & iOS 5 devices
Posted on August 8th, 2011 No commentsAt the end of June, Google released the Google+ app for Android mobile phone. And on July 19th, Google+ app for iPhone came out for Apple iPhone users to experience Google+ social network with their iPhones. The support for only iPhone of Google+ iPhone app now ends with the fresh upgrade of Google+ iPhone app. On August 8th, Google+ updated its Google+ iOS app to version 1.0.2.1966 to support all Apple devices, including iPhone, iPad, iPod touch and iOS 5 devices.
Google describes this update on Apple iTunes: Google+ for mobile makes sharing the right things with the right people a lot simpler. Huddle lets you send super-fast messages to the people you care about most. And no matter where you are, the stream lets you stay in the loop about what your friends are sharing and where they’re checking in.
What’s New in Version 1.0.2.1966
– Huddle settings
– Aggregated circle add notifications
– iPod touch & iPad support
– Performance and stability improvements
As the main rival to the social network giant Facebook, it could be said the Google+ owns more advantages than Facebook (not mean to the two social network giants, but refer to the development experience) as Google+ could learn experience and more things from the success of Facebook, just like the combination mobile phone apps with different mobile phones. Now, along with the support for almost all Apple devices, it is for sure that more Apple users would take a try of Google+ service. And as a user, we focus not who would win in the competition, but what would bring to us.
The Google+ iOS app is just updated. The performance of Google+ on iPad, iPod touch and iOS 5 still needs to be paid attention. Let’s just see what Google+ iOS app has brought to us.

Andy Serkis staring Rise of the Planet of the Apes got mostly positive critics
Posted on August 6th, 2011 No commentsThe 2011 American sci-fi film, Rise of the Planet of the Apes (originally titled Caesar and Rise of the Apes), has been theatrical released on August 5th in North America. The film is directed by Rupert Wyatt and stars Andy Serkis and James Franco. It is a reboot of the Planet of the Apes series that will act as a foundation with an origin story for a new film series. Its premise is similar to the fourth film in the original series Conquest of the Planet of the Apes (1972), but it is not a direct remake in that it does not fit into that series’ continuity.
Most movie fans might have not added the “Rise of the Planet of the Apes” to their summer movie must-see list, but all of a sudden, the little-monkey-movie-that-could is emerging from out of nowhere as one of the heat season’s biggest surprises for movie fans. On rottentomatoes.com, this movie gets 80% of Fresh rate and 87% audience liked it with an average rating of 4.1 out of 5 stars. And thanks to Andy Serkis, who stars Caesor, also starring in “Lord of the Rings” and “King Kong“, we could watch the excellent performance of Apes in the movie.
There have been quite a few movie reviews about this new movie. The Times’ Kenneth Turan praised this movie “smart, fun and thoroughly enjoyable, it’s a model summer diversion that entertains without insulting your intelligence.” The New York Times’ Manohla Dargis points out in her positive review that “Engineered to entertain, ‘Rise of the Planet of the Apes’ may be awkwardly named, but almost everything else about it is generally easygoing, including the inevitable climactic action and the human and digitally assisted performances.”
Of course, there are also some negative reviews and opinions upon this movie. Whatever, “Rise of the Planet of the Apes” indeed proves to be a big summer blockbuster to get great popularity. Quite creative, funny and user-friendly Error Display Pages of Apple iCloud
Posted on August 5th, 2011 No commentsJust several days before, Apple has quietly unveiled the beta version of the new storage and syncing service on iCloud.com along with the storage extension prices for iCloud users to expand storage in addition to the free 5GB provided previously. This site is originally open to users who own Apple developer accounts. To these users, it would be depressed to see the Error Display pages of iCloud. But they are still willing to share with these pictures for the creative, funny and user-friendly Error Display pages design. Here, I have collected some very creative and funny pictures about these Error Display pages from iCloud.
When users with Apple developer accounts are going to use iCloud, JavaScript is required to be enabled in users’ browser. The iCloud page screen informs bellow, just like a bookish in glasses drinking a cup of coffee.
The following page screen display with a frowning iCloud tells you that your current browser is not supported by iCloud. To use iCloud service, you need to use Apple Safari, Firefox or IE browser. That means Google Chrome browser is not in the list of iCloud.
The bellow cute iCloud eating cookies tells you that if you want to use the iCloud service, then you need to enable cookies in your browser and try again.
And if the following iCloud page appears, it means that there is a missing page or page fault. The little cute iCloud tells you to double check and try again for one more search.
These funny iCloud Error Display pages are very cute, yet very useful and user-friendly for users to get to know what the problem is and how to solve it. The official launch of Apple iCloud has been reported to be set in September, mostly likely to come out along with new iPod products and the next generation of iPhone. Currently you can take a try of the iCloud beta version to experience the facilities of the official iCloud in advance.
