Posted on February 1st, 2013 David Brooks No comments

The rumors about HTC’ upcoming flagship, the HTC M7, have been hot just like a wildfire on the web. Until now, the only thing we have confirmed is that HTC would hold a press conference on February 19th, which has been supposed to be most possibly the official release date of HTC M7. The latest news about the HTC M7 to hit the web comes from HTCSource, which said that the M7 will allegedly be officially launched on March 8 in Europe first before it makes its way to American shores. The news also mentioned color of HTC M7. Users could get options between classic black and pure white at will.

    HTC M7

As for the detailed specs, the HTC M7 has been set to be one of the first devices to sport a 1080p resolution on a 4.7-inch screen, which will give 468ppi pixel density (40 percent higher than that of the iPhone 5). That means the HTC M7 might deliver even better visual effect for people to watch HD movies on HTC M7 than that of iPhone 5.

Also, HTC M7 has a 1.7GHz quad-core Snapdragon processor with 2GB RAM and 32GB internal storage. This would ensure a smooth operating and fluent user experience. The 13 megapixel camera with 1080p recording and an f/2.0 aperture, plus the 2 megapixel front-facing camera with 1080p video recording, would greatly satisfy users’ desire in video and picture recording. On the audio side of things, the device is set to have a dedicated amplifier designed by Beats, along with stereo speakers. It is also set to support LTE network connectivity, the next-gen Wi-Fi standard of 802.11ac, which theoretically has three times the throughput of 802.11n.

BlackBerry has finally officially announced its first BlackBerry 10 smartphone, the so called Re-designed, Re-engineered and Re-invented BlackBerry Z10 smartphone. The new smartphone has a large 4.2-inch 1280 x 768-resolution display and a thin all-black body with a soft-to-the-touch back, well-made and comfortable to hold.

Powered by a dual-core processor, 2GB of RAM and AT&T LTE, the phone is something that some of the BlackBerrys of past have never been described as being: fast. Not only is it the fastest BlackBerry ever made, it gives even the best Android phones and the iPhone 5 a run for their money in terms of speed, especially when it comes to Web browsing.

BlackBerry said the Z10 would be available in Canada on Feb. 5 and in the United States in March. Verizon Wireless announced that it would sell the Z10 for $200 with a two-year contract. BlackBerry 10 phones will also be carried by AT&T, Sprint and T-Mobile, but those companies said they would announce prices later.

  • Detailed specs of touchscreen Blackberry 10 smartphones leaked with 4.2-inch screen

Posted on January 17th, 2013 David Brooks No comments

Talking about BlackBerry, many people would think of the hot rumored BlackBerry 10 smartphones. BlackBerry maker Research in Motion is helping customers prepare to switch to its soon-to-be-launched BlackBerry 10 smartphones that it hopes will help it reclaim market share from rivals such as Apple Inc. As for RIM, it is betting that the new range of touch-screen and keyboard devices, set for a January 30 launch, will revive its fortunes.

    BlackBerry 10

Very recently in this week, TechRader got a RIM training manual for the upcoming smartphone, revealing details about the BlackBerry 10 L-Series devices, such as screen size, battery and memory. As reported, the touchscreen models of BlackBerry 10 L series smartphones would adopt 4.2″ screen display with up to 1280×768 pixels screen resolution, which means superb visual effect would be delivered for people to watch HD movies on BlackBerry 10 smartphones. The detailed information about the processor of BlackBerry 10 smartphones has not been unveiled, but it is reported to figure 2GB RAM and 16GB internal memory storage. The battery volume is reported to be 1800mAh. BlackBerry 10 smartphones would come with dual cameras: 2MP front camera with 2X digital zoom and 720P video shooting, and 5MP back camera with LED flashlight, 5X digital zoom and 1080P video shooting.

The X10, the smartphone model with a keyboard, should have similar internal specs and, along with the Z10, will sport two cameras. The front-facing camera will be 2 MP with a 2× digital zoom and 720p video recording. The back camera should be 8 MP and include a flash, auto focus, 1080p video recording and a 5× digital zoom. The phone is also said to have Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS, as well as NFC, which is sorely lacking from the iPhone 5.

RIM has yet commented on the leaked training manual, but firmly believes that the smartphones to be released on January 30 own the competence to compete with the existing popular smartphones in the market. TechRader also reported that BlackBerry 10 L series smartphones would provide 4 different models, three of which would support 4G LTE network connectivity.

  • Facebook reportedly to hold a major press event on Tuesday possibly about a new Facebook phone or mobile OS

Posted on January 14th, 2013 David Brooks No comments

As reported, Facebook is inviting global presses to hold a press event on Tuesday while an event in London is running simultaneously. This Tuesday event has been considered to be a major press event from Facebook, and some important things might be brought out. In the past few months, one of the most popular anticipations about Facebook is Facebook phone. The rumors about Facebook phone has been starting early from 2010. Now, a Facebook phone based on Mozilla Firefox OS has been hotly rumored.  Thus, it is quite reasonable for people to believe that the Facebook Tuesday event is most possibly to be something related with Facebook phone.

    Facebook phone

But there’s also a question that the Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg has constantly denied the existence of a Facebook phone so many. Therefore, the Tuesday press event is also possible to be something else. There also is some guess that what Facebook will show off on Tuesday would be mobile phone ecosystem like a Facebook mobile OS, but not an actual phone. This also seems to be reasonable.

However, according to the latest reports, another possibility arouses. There’s been report that the Tuesday press event would be nothing related to mobile phone and operating system, but a Facebook Messenger app for Apple iPad, which will include features like emoticons, the ability to share photos, location tagging, group messaging, and receipt reading. The new voice recording messaging feature that has been available for the Apple iPhone will also be part of the new app. Though this report would be greatly welcomed by iPad users, this alone is not a big enough deal to warrant a major press event for Facebook. So perhaps we will still see that Facebook phone or Facebook mobile OS.
