According to Apple Insider, now for the replacement of a lost or damaged AirPod or the charing case, Apple will charge you $69 in the U.S.

Usually the whole set of AirPod comes with a one-year warranty which covers problems like audio defect and battery problems. When the warranty expires, standard repairs cost $69 and battery service, which is likely to be needed as the headphones age and wear out, costs $49.

“Audio automatically plays as soon as you put them in your ears and pauses when you take them out,” Apple says. “To adjust the volume, change the song, make a call or even get directions, just double-tap to activate Siri. Driven by the custom Apple W1 chip, AirPods use optical sensors and a motion accelerometer to detect when they’re in your ears. Whether you’re using both AirPods or just one, the W1 chip automatically routes the audio and engages the microphone. And when you’re on a call or talking to Siri, an additional accelerometer works with beamforming microphones to filter out background noise and focus on the sound of your voice.

The AirPods just went on sale on December 13th and they are in no way cheap. They set you back $159 before tax and they might look a little peculiar for now but this could change if they grow in popularity in the future.
