• Apple iPhone 5 news: one of the two 3.999 inches new Apple iPhone being tested would be iPhone 5

Posted on May 23rd, 2012 David Brooks No comments

The new iPhone has been talked for a long time. People are guessing about what it would bring and when it would come out. I have written a post on the release date of iPhone 5 which indicates no release of iPhone 5 on this WWDC. And this seems to be more reliable since the latest news from 9to5Mac. The Phonearena writer Alan F has wrote a post about the news from 9to5Mac. Check the news bellow:

According to 9to5Mac, at Apple HQ, testing is taking place on a couple of prototype handsets, one of which will probably become the next Apple iPhone 5. The prototypes are disguised by being put in thick black shells which are designed to hide the true identity of the phone inside. Two of the models being tested have larger screens than the current 3.5 inches that used to be considered generously sized when the first Apple iPhone was launched in 2007. Since then, we have seen the envelope widen from the 4.3 inches that seemed so large on the HTC HD2 to the 5.3 inches on the Samsung GALAXY Note. The two Apple iPhone prototypes with the larger screen are internally called the iPhone 5.1 and the iPhone 5.2.

The HTC HD2 raised the bar with its 4.3 inch screen

Both the iPhone 5.1 and the iPhone 5.2are in the PreEVT stage of testing and go by the code names N41AP and N42AP respectively. The pair both sport a 3.999 inch screen, measured diagonally. Besides increasing the size of the display, Apple is also adding pixels to the screen as the new models have a resolution of 640 x 1136, which produces excellent digital enjoyment of watching HD videos on iPhone 5. That’s an extra 176 pixels added down. The width of the screen will remain 1.9632 but will now be 3.484 inches tall and the aspect ratio will be close to 16:9.

There is also speculation that Apple will be working to maximize the extra real estate on iOS 6 by adding a fifth row of icons (not including the stationary icons, of course) and this is where the extra pixels come in to keep the screen a Retina display. Both of these models are said to have a home button and a smaller dock connector. The new dock connector is said to be a smaller version of the current 30-pin one and is said to be in between a micro USB connector and a mini one.

Considering that the last two Apple iPhone models ended up on the floor of a bar, we would imagine that the Cupertino based firm has tightened up security in terms of who can test a unit off-campus and who gets to take a prototype home.

  • iPhone 5 news: No iPhone 5 release on WWDC while more focus on iPhone 5 screen

Posted on May 21st, 2012 David Brooks No comments

It’s been a long time for people rumoring Apple iPhone 5. People care about iPhone 5 release date, iPhone 5 specs, iPhone 5 price, iPhone 5 versions, etc. It’s commonly rumored before that the iPhone 5 might get released on this WWDC, which is going to be held next month. But, now that a pretty strong consensus is gelling that there will be no iPhone 5 unveiling at the Worldwide Developers Conference next month, focus of speculation has turned once again to issues of the iPhone 5 screen size. There have been rumors that the next Apple iPhone would adopt a flexible OLED panel on a curved surface. That seems to be possible for Apple is taking a more active interest in OLED technology. As for the screen size, there have been rumors that iPhone 5 would include a 4” or even larger display. Reuters even projected more specifically that the next iPhone 5 screen size would be 4.6 inches.

    iPhone 5

It would be awesome for owners to enjoy HD videos on iPhone 5 whatever screen size the iPhone 5 adopts, as either 4.0 or 4.6 inches screen would produces better visual effect than watching HD videos on iPhone 4S. But these are just rumors, as Apple may not adopt larger screen display on iPhone 5. There are some objectively good reasons why Apple has kept the screen dimension at 3.5 inches through the iPhone’s first five generations. An obvious one it that it facilitates an ideally pocketable size and lower weight than a larger panel would. Another of course is that smaller displays enhance battery runtime per charge. Larger screen display consumes more battery, while Apple iPhones have been always hoped to be increased in battery performance.

Meanwhile, the larger display on iPhone 5 would present new challenges for developers as apps may not work as good on larger screen display as used to operate on smaller screen display. Of course, challenges are always accompanied with opportunities. There’re also great opportunities for developers.

But we are still back to the words that it’s still too early to talk about these things as there’s no official news about the new iPhone screen size and materials. We still have to wait for the official iPhone 5 release, which is highly believed to be the mid to late September or more likely October, either on the anniversary of the 2011 iPhone 4S release, or to commemorate a year since Steve Jobs’s death.

  • 6 features of Apple iPhone 5 that are most anticipated

Posted on May 4th, 2012 David Brooks No comments

The waiting for the Apple iPhone 5, ever since the release of iPhone 4, has been for so long a time that we may care more about what Apple iPhone 5 would bring to us. There were a lot of anticipations and speculations towards the Apple iPhone 5 since iPhone 4, like an advanced processor (A5), large screen display, edge-to-edge design, better battery, etc. Some have been realized in iPhone 4S, while still some other need to be realized in future Apple iPhones. Here, I have collected some features about Apple iPhone 5 that are most anticipated from people around the world and hopped to be included in the next generation of Apple iPhone, probably iPhone 5 or other codename. Check the following content to get the detailed things about Apple iPhone, as that might be the specific features of the next Apple iPhone. And feel free to show your own opinions on the next Apple iPhone in the comment part.

iPhone 5New redesign: With the iPhone 4S, we didn’t get the redesign that a lot of people were hoping for. But in the next generation of Apple iPhone, it’s almost certain we’ll get it with the iPhone 5. Will it be thinner, with a teardrop design? Look more like the iPad 2? Bigger screen? Well, all these seem to be possible on the next iPhone.

Better battery life: Battery life has been a big concern on smartphones. Every time Apple puts out a new iPhone, the battery life gets slightly better, so we expect no less from the sixth-generation iPhone.

4G network compatibility: With the development of 4G network connectivity, more and more smartphones are 4G network connectivity supported for faster speed on downloading. But on iPhone 4S, it in facts supports only a 3.5G network connectivity, other than a real 4G network connectivity. As many rivals of Apple iPhone start to support 4G, it’s firmly believed that the next iPhone would add 4G into its plan.

A6 processor: Apple iPhone 4s and its 3rd generation of iPad have adopted 1GHz A5 processor for better processing performance. Many people anticipated an A6 processor on the next Apple iPhone. The A6 chip is reportedly a 28nm process (compared with the A5’s 45nm), meaning lower energy consumption and higher speeds. A faster processor would improve the performance of Siri, the iPhone 4S’ integrated voice assistant, as well as a host of other features, including still and video image capture, thus it is quite reasonable for people to look forward to an A6 processor.

Improved 3D graphics: Apple improves the graphics capabilities with each new iteration of the iPhone, with the iPhone 4S offering a big jump over the iPhone 4. The iPhone 4S has the PowerVR SGX543MP found in the iPad 2, and we expect that the iPhone 5 will get the next-generation PowerVR chip, as the PowerVR SGX545 had been announced last year already.

NFC support: When the iPhone 4S was going to be released, there had been voices for the NFC (Near Field Communication technology), which finally was missed on iPhone 4S. Since many other smartphones have always added this technology and the mature of NFC technology, it’s great possible for Apple to add NFC support on Apple iPhone 5.

  • More iPhone 5 specs leaked for a probably October 4th release

Posted on September 27th, 2011 David Brooks No comments

During a speech at the Discovery Invest Leadership Summit, Al Gore, former Vice President of the United States and current Apple board member, stated that new Apple iPhones will be released next month. This well indicates that either there would be one new iPhone model on multiple carriers, or two new iPhone models are ready for the October release. There are also reports which tell that there would be more than 30 million iPhone 5 handsets with an upgraded antenna and other changes ready to be released. The release date of Apple iPhone 5 has been most probably confirmed to be October 4th, but what about the specs of Apple iPhone 5? Check the bellow content to get an overview about Apple iPhone 5 specs.

    iPhone 5

Compared with iPhone 4, the iPhone 5 made a big upgrade in various points:

    1. Like the iPad 2, the new iPhone 5 adopts the dual-core A5 processor for faster processing speed and better gaming effect and graphical display. What is prior to iPad 2 is that the iPhone 5 features with 1GB RAM, which not only means the better performance in surfing the internet, but total different performance in background task as well. Thus no matter you want to watch DVD on iPhone 5 or watch HD Blu-ray on iPhone 5, you would enjoy more than before.

    2. The iPhone 5 also comes with big upgrade in photographic system with 8MP camera and backlit sensor. And according to the discovery in iOS SDK, the iPhone 5 may function with the ability for full view shooting.

    3. The iPhone 5 would come with Qualcomm Gobi baseband chip to support both GSM and CDMA network connection. It is still to be confirmed whether Apple is trying to configure virtual SIM card and NFC chipset.

    4. A new shinning point of iPhone 5 is the new Assistant software. Assistant is the Global Voice Navigation system which needs CPU of A5 processor, thus users couldnot experience it on iPhone 4 and iPhone 3GS. And as a supplement to Assistant, iPhone 5 would also include Nuance to transfer voice to script. Users only need to click the transmitter when inputting voice.

All the specs and new features of Apple iPhone 5 would be clear on October 4th. And maybe more surprises would come to users that day. Stay tuned for more information on the iPhone 5.

  • Will October 4th become the big day for Apple and Apple fans with the arrival of iPhone 5

Posted on September 22nd, 2011 David Brooks No comments

Apple iPhone 5 has been a long concern among the world. People have highly anticipated worldwide for what excellent performance AppleApple iconiPhone 5 would bring out. The most reliable date about the release of iPhone 5 is October 4th, while the new CEO Tim Cook will take the stage to host the unveiling. We also believe that the iPhone 5 would be the first big event the new CEO Tim Cook is going to bring to Apple fans. Zack Whittaker from ZDNet had written a post on the information about October 4th event upon the Apple iPhone 5. Read the following reports for the detailed information.

Reports are circulating around the media wires this morning that Apple’s new chief executive, Tim Cook, will take to the stage and announce ’something’.

John Paczkowski with the Wall Street Journal’s AllThingsD network, says that Apple’s next event will be held on October 4, where it is most likely that the next-generation iPhone 5 smartphone will be unveiled.

Hedging on the side of caution, Paczkowski has long claimed through sources of his own that the launch will be in October. Sources say that the iPhone will be made available for purchase within a few weeks after the announcement.

Update: As Jason Hiner, editor-in-chief of TechRepublic, ZDNet’s sister site, points out, the Moscone Center where previous launches have been made is “booked out” for Oracle on October 4th. Apple previously used the Moscone for WWDC 2011 earlier this year. Whether this means the October 4th date is a busted flush, or it means Apple already has another venue in mind, it is yet to be known.

There has been wide speculation over the device, which is believed to have changed in screen size and dimensions. Other leaks point to a radical new design, whereas leaked device cases show that the smartphone will remain widely the same.

The truth is: Apple has done it again. We have no real idea what the next-generation iPhone will look like.

Apple iPhone 5But while consumers will be looking for the new iPhone, as the highly anticipated Christmas and holiday season seller of the year, analysts and journalists will be looking at Tim Cook, who replaced Steve Jobs over the summer after he resigned from the company.

Cook will be in charge of the event, and no doubt will take to the stage as Apple’s new chief executive to announce the device. He has to be — he’s the boss. But Cook has never done this before, and will no doubt be aided by other executives to make their own announcement.

But as this may be Cook’s first presentation to the world, it has not been his first major challenge as chief executive.

Late last month, an Apple employee reportedly lost an iPhone 5 prototype in a bar in San Francisco. Bad luck struck twice, only a year after the Gawker media storm after the iPhone 4 was sold to the media company. A huge controversy began when Apple security staff alleged to have impersonated police officers when searching the suspect’s home, when the device ended up in someone else’s hands.

Though Steve Jobs continues to serve as chair of the Apple board, Tim Cook has already had a tough couple of months. Nevertheless, for consumers, the iPhone 5 will be the prime focus for the day.
