Andy Serkis staring Rise of the Planet of the Apes got mostly positive critics

The 2011 American sci-fi film, Rise of the Planet of the Apes (originally titled Caesar and Rise of the Apes), has been theatrical released on August 5^th in North America. The film is directed by Rupert Wyatt and stars Andy Serkis and James Franco. It is a reboot of the Planet of the Apes series that will act as a foundation with an origin story for a new film series. Its premise is similar to the fourth film in the original series Conquest of the Planet of the Apes (1972), but it is not a direct remake in that it does not fit into that series’ continuity.

Most movie fans might have not added the “Rise of the Planet of the Apes” to their summer movie must-see list, but all of a sudden, the little-monkey-movie-that-could is emerging from out of nowhere as one of the heat season’s biggest surprises for movie fans. On rottentomatoes.com, this movie gets 80% of Fresh rate and 87% audience liked it with an average rating of 4.1 out of 5 stars. And thanks to Andy Serkis, who stars Caesor, also starring in “Lord of the Rings” and “King Kong“, we could watch the excellent performance of Apes in the movie.

There have been quite a few movie reviews about this new movie. The Times’ Kenneth Turan praised this movie “smart, fun and thoroughly enjoyable, it’s a model summer diversion that entertains without insulting your intelligence.” The New York Times’ Manohla Dargis points out in her positive review that “Engineered to entertain, ‘Rise of the Planet of the Apes’ may be awkwardly named, but almost everything else about it is generally easygoing, including the inevitable climactic action and the human and digitally assisted performances.”

Of course, there are also some negative reviews and opinions upon this movie. Whatever, “Rise of the Planet of the Apes” indeed proves to be a big summer blockbuster to get great popularity. When the Kyle family meets danger, they could summon the spirit of Norbert Kyle to defeat their enemy.

Maybe because of the poor performance of the Ghost Rider, the movie abandoned Mark Steven Johnson, but invited Brian Tyler and Mark Neveldine as directors. The Ghost Rider 2 costs $75 million, far less than the Ghost Rider. The two directors said that even with low budget, they could film a very good movie. Cage also promised that the Ghost Rider 2 would include less fairy tale or western movie elements, but come with more international elements to excite movie fans to make it more popular.

The Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance will be theatrical released on February 17^th in 2012, in both 2D and 3D. Besides Sony, the Hyde Park Entertainment also investigated in this movie as Sony currently has too many movies to film. Cage has got great concern in this movie, just like his other recent movies like Season of the Witch, which has been available on Blu-ray and DVD for home entertainment now.

Walt Disney Picture released John Carter teaser trailer and pictures

John Carter is a 2012 American science fiction action adventure film about John Carter, the lead character in Edgar Rice Burroughs‘ 11-volume Barsoom series. And next year, 2012, would be the 100^th anniversary of John Carter. Walt Disney Picture recomposed it and filmed it to be a science fiction epic movie with the same name – John Carter, which would be going to theatrical released on March 9^th of 2012 in the United States as scheduled. The filming work of John Carter has been started in November 2009 by Walt Disney Picture and several days ago, Disney released the teaser trailer.

Edgar Rice Burroughs is also the author of Tarzan of the Apes. John Carter of Mars was a serial novel on a magazine. The novel tells the story of an American Civil War veteran, John Carter, is transplanted to Mars (Barsoom) and discovers a diverse planet whose inhabitants include 12-foot tall green barbarians. Along his journey he meets Tars Tarkas and rescues a humanoid Red Martian princess, Dejah Thoris, from the belligerent four-armed Green Martians, whose respect he gains for his superior strength and fighting ability. He enlists the Green Martians’ assistance in winning a civil war, and saves Mars from destruction when its atmosphere plant malfunctions.

John Carter is the first live-action film of director Andrew Stanton, with Taylor Kitsch starring John Carter and Lynn Collins starring the Princess of Mars, Dejah Thoris, who falls in love with Carter gradually.
