New Cannon Vixia HF R200. I used a 32MB SD chip and videoed a party, just under 1 hr.
I took the chip out of the camcorder and inserted it in to my laptop and W Media Player let me download the video to my harddrive.
I made a DVD same software, but DVD came out jerky.
I then decided to install Cannon's Transfer Utility on my laptop, put SD chip back into camcorder, and transferred files to hard drive again.
But Cannon software did not permit me to make a DVD from the downloaded files.
So I downloaded another brand's BR Creator and again tried to make, first a Blu-Ray disk(which it did not recognize) then a DVD
which it did very slowly recognize. It proceeded to appear to burn a DVD. However, in the end, after a long burn session it messaged the burn had failed.
When I put that DVD into my player and tried to view it, Windows Media player said it did not recognize that media format. I assume it is AVCHD.
I was advised to delete all files on the laptop, download the Creator software again, then proceed to download from the camcorder SD chip to laptop, and burn a DVD.
However, I am no longer able to dowload the files from the chip to my hard drive., whether I have chip in Camcorder, or installed in my laptop chip slot.
Cannon Transfer Utility and Media player say they cannot access the file location, or they cannot see it. I am apparently locked out of accessing those files now??
Yet when I put that same chip in my laptop and just play it on media player it plays flawlessly, so the files are still there???
How do I get access to the files on that chip, which are my home videos, and make DVDs for relatives across the land. It was a birthday party.
Appreciate some insights on this, I am not very skilled in these matters, I need simple instructions if there are any available.
Is there a device I can install this chip into that makes Hi Def DVds from the AVCHD formated files?
