avi converter producing multi-part files

Hi folks...my first time here. After having used the free avi converter, I purchased the full version and am very happy with results, mainly converting mkv to avi. I have noticed that when I convert a larger-then-usual file, the result is a multi-part DML. This causes playback problems under certain conditions. Can you advise me of the maximum size of the input mkv file to produce a single-part DML. In anticipation, many thanks.
