“Together with my family, I really had a wonderful Christmas celebration. But there is a pity that my brother was far away from home on Christmas Day. He is currently in China. This is the first Christmas holiday that my brother is absent. I have shot a lot of wonderful Christmas videos to record the happy moments. Now, I would like to burn these Christmas movies to a Blu-ray disc and send the disc as a gift to my brother to let he experience our joy. I searched online and know that I have to use a Blu-ray burning program to do this. Which Blu-ray burning program is the best and how could I do the burning easily?”

    Merry Christmas

Though the Christmas Day has been over, the Christmas festival feast is still around people. Many kids are still counting there Christmas gifts and the Santa Clause is still everywhere in the world in kids’ mind. In such a celebrating holiday, shooting videos is absolutely a good way to record the happy hour for future review and sharing. For people who plan to burn Christmas movies to Blu-ray discs, a professional and cost-effective Blu-ray burner needs to be used.

There’re various Blu-ray burning programs online for people to choose from, among which the Total Media Converter Ultimate is absolutely a first choice. Only from the practical functions, this 7-in-1 media converter combo tops other Blu-ray burning programs. Besides the ability to burn video to Blu-ray/DVD discs, this tool also allows people to freely convert video/DVD/Blu-ray, download online videos, edit video/DVD/Blu-ray content for customizations, create 3D movies from plain 2D sources, etc. Meanwhile, during burning your Christmas movies to Blu-ray discs, you can also DIY your liked disc menu, templates, background music and background pictures. Creating totally Christmas themed Blu-ray discs from the Christmas movies you took is just a piece of cake.

    Christmas

Of course, the function is one thing we need to consider for burning Christmas movies to Blu-ray discs. The cost should also be as low as possible, or at least worthwhile. Currently, there’s an All-in-One Xmas Gift Pack for this 7-in-1 media converter combo online, which includes this Total Media Converter Ultimate ($99.95), Blu-ray Copy ($44.95), PowerPoint to Video Pro ($44.95) and iTransfer ($14.95), but priced at only $102.4, 50% OFF discount. • Top 6 Best Tech Gifts for Your Friends or Family on 2012 Christmas Holiday

Posted on December 14th, 2012 David Brooks | No comments

As everyone knows, Christmas is a time for giving, a time for reflection, and a time for buying loads and loads of gadgets – either as gifts, or for yourself. So, what is the best move to pick up the best gadgets 2012 and top Holiday gifts? Very crowded – the shops- are they? Here are some great gadgets that look great on you and greatest when you gift them.

Whether you’re looking to treat yourself this Christmas or want some inspiration when buying for others, we’ve rounded up enough tech kit to fill a dozen stockings. There are plenty of options including smartphones and tablets. We’ve done most of the hard work for you: all you need do is choose the wrapping paper. Check the below options to know what these gifts are:

iPad mini iPad mini: Apple’s new iPad delivers all the same features as its bigger sister, just in a smaller, more portable package. Great for frequent travelers, the iPad mini measures 7.87in (full-sized iPads measure 9.5in) and is just 0.3 kg. Its smaller frame lets the iPad mini easily slide into purses or briefcases, and users can hold the tablet with just one hand. The only drawback is that the display is a bit of downgrade compared to bigger iPads, but other specs, such as battery life and cameras, are identical. The cheapest iPad mini is $509.

    Kindle Fire HD

Kindle Fire HD: Amazon’s 7in Kindle Fire HD touts specs that give Apple’s iPad mini a run for its money and costing nearly $US130 less. The Kindle Fire HD comes equipped with a 1280×800 HD display, dual-driver stereo speakers and dual-antenna wi-fi that, according to Amazon, lets it download content 40 percent faster than the third-generation iPad. The 7in Kindle Fire HD comes in a 16GB model for $US199 and a 32GB model for $US249 – it’s not available in Australia, but can be bought on Amazon’s US online store.

    iPhone 5

iPhone 5: For those who didn’t join the rush to buy the iPhone 5 the minute it came out, Apple’s latest smartphone would make a great gift. Faster, thinner and lighter than previous iPhone models, the iPhone 5 created a frenzy when it was launched in September, and Apple sold more than 5 million within the first three days of availability. So what’s all the fuss about? Apart from its more powerful processor and thinner form factor, Apple’s latest smartphone also runs iOS 6, Apple’s latest mobile software, and includes the same top-notch retina display that debuted with the third-generation iPad. Now that the rush is over, you can get an iPhone 5 at Apple and resellers for $799, and telcos on a variety of plans.

    Galaxy Note II

Samsung Galaxy Note II: Can’t decide whether to surprise your loved ones this year with a tablet or a smartphone? Give them both with the Samsung Galaxy Note II. Its half-smartphone, half-tablet design makes the Samsung Galaxy Note II stand out from the slew of other mobile devices on the market today. The gadget comes with Google’s latest mobile OS – Android 4.1 Jelly Bean – along with 4G support and a 5.5in HD display. Samsung also offers its S Pen stylus along with the Note. It is selling now for $899, and on plans from Optus, Vodafone and Virgin.

    Nexus 10

Google Nexus 10: Apple’s iPad may rule the tablet market, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t any worthy competitors out there. Google’s Nexus 10, a 10in, Android-based tablet, is one of them – and it sells for almost $100 less than the fourth-generation iPad, letting you save a few bucks at Christmas. And don’t worry – its modest price tag doesn’t mean sub-par specs. The display on the Nexus 10 actually has more pixels than the fourth-generation iPad’s retina display, plus it runs a powerful ARM Cortex 15 dual-core processor. Google offers a 16GB model of the Nexus 10 for $469 and a 32GB version for $569. Apple’s comparable iPad starts from $539.

    Microsoft Surface

Microsoft Surface: Microsoft Surface is the perfect gift this year for those curious to test run the software giant’s first go at a tablet. Running Windows RT, the ARM-specific flavour of Windows 8, Surface is a 10in tablet that comes with an integrated kickstand, allowing users to prop it up to watch movies or browse the web hands-free. It starts at $559 and can be bundled with Microsoft’s Touch Cover keyboard for an additional $130 to offer a more laptop-like experience. Another version of Surface, running Windows 8 Pro, is slated to launch in January.

  • Some advices for you on shopping Christmas gifts and other holiday gifts

Posted on November 30th, 2012 David Brooks | 1 comment

Quite soon, the 2012 Christmas is arriving. As the most popular holiday of the year, one thing is unavoidable. That is to give Christmas gifts to friends or family members. For me, it was once a really hard task as I have little idea on what to gift and don’t like shopping to get gifts. Because of the allodoxaphobia, I always don’t know what to choose during shopping. For years, I have been afraid of Christmas and other gift giving holidays.

Things get changed since my friend, Damon, gave me some suggestions on Christmas and other holiday gift giving. Now, it becomes quite easy for me to shop the right gifts for my friends and family. He gave me some advices on shopping holiday gifts which are showed below. Hope you can also get some inspiration from these suggestions.

    Christmas 2012

Firstly, you should set the cost limit, which means how much you plan to spend on the gift. You should do this on your own budget. Of course, if you want to make some DIY gifts, like DIY DVD discs from Christmas movies, you can only spend a few dollars on gifting.

Then, make a list. You need to create a list on who and what to gift. A list would help you remember what to buy during shopping, either online or in physical sops. Make sure each person you will give to is on the list. Be sure the items you choose are not above your spending limit. Also, set the cost limit on the list for everyone and every gift, in case of impulse shopping to get overspended.

Of course, you also need to learn how to bargain. Bargain with the seller to get a lower price will help to save you a lot of money.

Meanwhile, you need to start the preparing work early. Christmas, and other gift giving occasions, occur on the same day every year. Besides you, other people also purchase gifts for giving. An early preparing work would make it much easier and relaxed.

Shop online if possible. Nowadays, the online marketing is also very popular. And it is also very common for online shops to make big discount before various gift giving holidays. Some would even give free giveaway gifts. Such kind of campaigns would also help to save money for you.

What’s your opinion on gift giving on Christmas and other holidays? Feel free to share with us your own thought in the comment part.

  • Christmas Gift Ideas – Top 5 Christmas Gifts Costing only $5 from Fiverr

Posted on December 21st, 2011 David Brooks | No comments

Christmas is just around the corner and people are all busy preparing for it. As an important Christmas content, Christmas gifts selection always become a difficult problem for all of us. Have you been ready to gifting your Christmas gifts and wishes to your friends and family members? Or what do you plan to gift if you still have no idea on what to gift? Well, thanks to Stephen Chapman, we could get some free suggestions on Christmas gifts ideas via a really low cost, only $5 for each choice. You can get your Christmas gifts ready for your friends within just a very short time with low cost. Check the bellow content to get to know what the Christmas gift ideas are.

Summary: What would you do for $5? With Fiverr, you can get people to do some pretty amazing/insane things for you, so why not a unique Christmas gift? Check out what I had some people do for me!

My friends, I’d like to direct you to one of my absolute favorite sites on the Internet: Fiverr

Long story short, Fiverr is a site where you pay people just $5 to do some pretty outstanding/hilarious/outrageous/*insert emphatic word here* things for you, no catch. And right now, they have Christmas specials going on that you can take advantage of. It’s seriously one of my favorite sites on the whole of the Internet, and you will see why shortly.

A few months ago, I allocated $50 to spend across 10 different people (that’s $5 a person) who had Fiverr gigs I was interested in. For all of them, I went with a common theme of my name and/or my search ninja series here on ZDNet (see part 1 and part 2, if you’re interested). From all of them, what follows are my top-5 favorites with brief explanations for each. Let them serve as small examples of what you can get people on Fiverr to do for you! The turnaround time for each of these was no more than 48 hours:

1 – Over-the-top testimonial: This is arguably my favorite of the bunch. For $5, this guy would create an over-the-top testimonial for you. I told him I wanted him to use my name along with “search ninja,” but to go to town doing whatever he wanted for the skit. This is what he came up with:

2 – Name on cappuccino froth: For $5, this kind lady would write your name or a very short message atop the froth of a cappuccino. Photoshop, you say? Not so! She takes multiple-angle images for you and will even add more of your message in a newspaper crossword puzzle beneath your cappuccino if you so desire! If you have a cappuccino or coffee lover, they might just love something like this to frame or use for their Twitter avatar!

Stephen Chapman Cappuccino3 – Banana suit testimonial: For $5, this girl would say whatever you wanted her to say in a banana suit! Totally ridiculous, but when you think about it, you’re getting someone to record themselves saying whatever you want them to say. In a banana suit. How awesome is that!? And for only $5? Sold!

4 – Search ninja caricature: For this $5 Fiverr gig, the girl would create a caricature based on specifications/images you provide. All I wanted was something that looked like me in a Ninjutsu gi with Google’s ‘G’ in my hand and my name along with “search ninja” written above/below. This is what she came up with:

Stephen Chapman Search Ninja5 – Radio voice testimonial: For my final Fiverr gig, this guy with over 20 years of radio experience offered to read and record a script you provide. As such, I quickly came up with a radio-like testimonial for him to read. This is the final result:

To close, I have to say that my absolute FAVORITE Fiverr gig is one that’s chock-full of NSFW language. Think George Carlin. This wonderfully kind lady, who does a wide array of skits, agreed to perform a skit where she acts like someone who gets miffed at me because I contacted her about sensitive documents on her site that were indexed in Google, and then creates a YouTube-like complaint video cussing me out as though I maliciously hacked her Web site. It’s not appropriate to post here and I don’t want to put it on YouTube without first creating an intro message explaining that it’s not real, but I mention it simply because it’s just one more example of the random things you can get people to do for you on Fiverr.

So, what are you waiting for? I mean, you’d be extremely hard-pressed to beat the sheer satisfaction derived from a $5 Fiverr Gig, so head on over now and start checking out some of the things people are willing to do for YOU! And by all means, feel free to chime in via the comment section below to share your Fiverr experiences, favorite gigs, etc.

To note, I planned on doing a more comprehensive article about Fiverr in January (including how the people who do these gigs make next to nothing), but the love of my life called me up tonight (at the time of this writing, it’s approximately 8:45 PM on 12/19/2011) and said, “Hey, have you written that Fiverr article yet? If not, you should do one about it being a perfect last-minute gift idea for the person who already has everything they want!” Yes, dear.

  • A Christmas Letter to Santa Claus Asking for a Special Christmas Gift: Taking Me to My Great Grandfather

Posted on December 14th, 2010 Irene | No comments

Christmas is the most important holiday of the year in most western countries as well as the most exciting day tens of thousands of Children yearning for. Santa Claus, the old man enjoys great popularity among adults and children, on Christmas Eve, will send the best Christmas greetings to people and deliver the most anticipating Christmas gifts to children all over the world. Likewise, children all around the world will write to Santa Claus with beautiful Christmas photos and beautiful Christmas pictures enclosed. In the letter, children will present to Santa Claus that they have performed very well during the year so they hope they can get Christmas gifts such as MP3, football, doll… Santa sent from the chimney. Most of these Christmas letters are permeated with joyfulness and happiness.

With the approaching of the annual Christmas 2010, the “Post Office of Santa Claus Village” located in Finland, North Pole has received thousands of Christmas letters from pole to pole. That’s right! Those letters are all addressed to Santa Claus. In order to live up to the expectations of children, the staffs in the post office will write back to every child at full stretch. In the sea of letters, a letter from a little boy is totally different from those in which demanding for gifts serves as the main tone. He does not ask for gift for himself but earnestly ask the Santa Claus to take him to his sick old great grandfather living far away from him. I guess to his great grandfather, he must be the most precious Christmas gift from Santa Claus.

Maybe it is a little bit difficult for Santa Clause to take the little boy to his great grandfather, but I have a better idea for him: a Christmas DVD with his every word and every smile carved. How to make such a warmth-filled DVD? A handy yet easy-to-use multimedia tool is needed here: DVD Creator. It can convert and create DVDs from videos in almost all popular formats. By using this smart tool, I’m sure that the little boy’s great grandfather can hear his lovely voice and see his happy countenance when his receives this Christmas gift. Moreover, Christmas greetings can be added to DVD video with DVD Creator. Words like “I love you, Great Grandfather” can be appended over the video. The most precious gift is the one that can touch the heart of the receiver, and this Christmas DVD designed for the little boy is just what can get people moved. More surprisingly, because of this Christmas season, the DVD Creator will save 35% off on Christmas Special Offer.

You can not find another festival like Christmas that can stir the heart of people, a Christmas DVD that can take you to your beloved one can really eat the receivers’ heart. Go and DIY such a touching Christmas DVD as a Christmas gift. Have fun!
