8 Samsung Smartphones Infringing Apple’s Patents and Costing High Compensation for Samsung

For a long time period, the patent lawsuit between Samsung and Apple has finally ended with a big amount of compensation from Samsung to Apple for patent infringement. Samsung Galaxy S II: Samsung is required to compensate Apple for $256.9 million on Galaxy S II, one of the hottest smartphones of Samsung. Galaxy S II has been sold out for more than 20 million units since it’s marketed. It has 5 versions in America, including T-Mobile and AT&T customized version. Samsung has to pay fine for every model, amounting up to 256.9 million dollars. The jury said the front panel is very similar to iPhone, while the back panel doesn’t violate Apple’s patent.

Samsung Mesmerize: Samsung Mesmerize is U.S. Cellular customized smartphone which is considered to violate iPhone’s front panel design patent. The jury also thinks the mobile phone owns too many similarities with iPhone on the main screen. Thus 531 million dollars are required.

Samsung Galaxy S：$733 million fine. Galaxy S is also Samsung’s hot unit. The jury thinks this mobile phone violates three patents of iPhone: front panel, back panel and the app array layout, for both 3G and 4G versions.

Samsung Vibrant: $897 million fine. The T-Mobile Galaxy S, Vibrant, is also considered to violate all design patents of iPhone.

Samsung Captivate: $808 million fine. The AT&T Galaxy S model, Samsung Captivate, is considered to violate iPhone’s app array layout patent.
