Blockbuster: Avatar arrived on Blu-ray DVD and strikes cinema version

The milestone epic film Avatar hit Blu-ray DVD market like a blockbuster on Earth Day. Millions of copies are sold out at the first wave of snap-up. This Blu-ray DVD edition of Avatar brings good news and bad news. The good news is that it covers more filmed image than the cinema version, so the home theater audience will have a wider and larger view. And the bad news pains 3D device manufacturers because this Avatar Blu-ray edition is the old 2D flat production with no 3D display to recreate the experience as is in 3D cinema. However, 3D edition will surely come on heel of this release in a year, so be patient to enjoy what we have today.

This 20 century Fox produced Blu-ray edition, with 1920x1080p high definition image and DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 surrounding audio, is definitely into the 2010 collection of HD video fanatics. Besides a BD50 disc, the Steelbook limited edition also includes an Avatar DVD-9 disc, a 32-page Art of Avatar photo album and four artcards, fascinating for collectors.
